Has anyone made contact with the people behind ? I think many people would like to use it, but it has a few unlabelled buttons in the room UI.
I haven’t been able to find any way to contact them but this would be a big hit in the blind community if it were a bit more .

I know I've been posting a lot on Bluesky and mostly not flattering stuff. The fact is we have our own shit on the fediverse to work out. We have ease of onboarding problems, ease of use problems, account portability problems, etc. Perhaps some of what they or others are doing could help fix some of those problems, my big beef being the account portability issue. However it is important to be aware of the hype bubble that is blowing up around Bluesky versus the reality of what is going on there. They are getting the full court press in the MSM and tech media. What comes of it is TBD. We saw the same hype cycle with Mastodon in the Twitter Migration, and that sword obviously cut both ways. In the mean time I want to work to get the fediverse, specifically my network Friendica, in a place where I can just recommend it to my non-tech savvy relatives versus recommending it with qualifiers at best to even my tech savvy friends.

The latest beta of Relatica mobile/desktop client for Friendica is now released: 0.5.0. This release today was prompted to fix the reshared post issues with the latest Friendica 2023.04 server software but I had been building up a bunch of big new things for 0.5.0 that are in this as well. This is the first release with a responsive design for desktop and tablets. So images and videos in posts now scale, timeline widths don't stretch forever, et cetera. Videos are playable in the full size media screen (except on Linux). Links now open in the system browser not an in-Relatica web view. You can do all your group (Mastodon Lists) management in the app now. There are a bunch of other tweaks as well listed in the CHANGELOG file. This is also the first release where I'm posting binaries that work on Ubuntu 20-based Linux distros. This should cover a lot more Linux distros than previously not just Ubuntu of course. Binaries are up for all platforms besides Mac/iOS but those are in review now and should be released in the next day or so by Apple. gitlab.com/mysocialportal/rela…

I feel that one of the things that would make super attractive is if we could transfer our accounts from to a friendica instance.

hankg, to random

To all Relatica app users, there is a regression in the Mastodon API endpoint in the latest release of Friendica with respect to reshared posts. Essentially reshared posts will show up in your timeline but any interactions with them will not work. This will manifest as things like when you "like" a post it doesn't change status, not showing the comments listed, etc. I had a new 0.5 version of Relatica coming out soon anyway. I'll try to create a work around that works specifically for servers running 2023.04 of Friendica. I'm tracking the issue at the below link for Relatica. It has a link to the Friendica GitHub issue as well. gitlab.com/mysocialportal/rela…

I tried to report to that their social links feature fails to correctly validate handles unless they are hosted on a mastodon, and all I got was a link to their community discussions 🙄.

Since Microsoft is big enough to only care about things when there is enough noise, here is a link where you can upvote / make noise. :nes_fire:

https://github.com/orgs/community/discussions/53537

Until this is addressed, if you happen to be using any other server type (e.g. , , , etc), GitHub will not accept your handle as a fediverse social link.

The Friendica social network can be installed via a Docker Container

Friendica actually has its own federating protocol, but it supports others too, such as Activity Pub (Fediverse), Twitter, Tumblr, and more. So it becomes a single client app that you can use as a hub to various other social networks (including Mastodon as pa ...continues

A new version of software was released today: v2023.04.

Announcement

We are very happy to announce the availability of the new stable release of Friendica “Giant Rhubarb" 2023.04. The highlights of this release are

  • The Mastodon compatible API of Friendica was improved,
  • Drag and Drop functionality was added to the Frio theme for image attachments, and
  • Christian Pöschl from usd AG reported a XSS fulnurability in a javascript dependency in the gallery of the Frio theme that was fixed.

What is Friendica?

Friendica is a decentralized communications platform, you can use to host your own social media server that integrates with independent social networking platforms (like the Fediverse or Diaspora*) but also some commercial ones like Tumblr.

Friendica 2023.04 just dropped today! Can't wait to upgrade to use some of the polished up API endpoints in Relatica! Some are already in there but not working since Relatica checks the Friendica version and knows what can and can't be done (like post editing) for a given version. Others I really wanted my real data to be available for me to implement with. So stoked either way. Hats off to the whole Friendica team! friendi.ca/2023/04/23/friendic…

Wenn man seinen Blog als SocialMedia Plattform betrachtet, wird bloggen auch in etwa so unkompliziert wie selbiges. Ein paar Zeilen, ein Bild, fertig

FINE, join at least if you want so much quote posts thing, but DON'T join Calckey, it has a BAD, AWFUL community!

Still, after all, is better.

P.S. I see you liking my posts, but you need to respond, dude. Why did you decided leave Mastodon for Calckey?

PLEASE, join ANY other project you want, but I'll block calckey.social soon, so you'll be unable to interact with me.

@Kaiteki @caos

somehow clogs up, there is some queries that run forever.

I can not:

  • restart MariaDB by 'systemctl restart mariadb.service'
  • restart all processes that run these query's to kill them

I can only kill mariadb, systemd will then automatically restart it.

How can I troubleshoot this, there seems to be nothing in the logs, just shows many long running queries when it happens. Otherwise it seems to run fine.

Any idea? Maybe an idea what to search for to find a solution? Whatever I searched for did not help.

hankg, to mastodon

Question for those that use Mastodon clients that allow multiple accounts logged in concurrently. Is that more like a fast switching between accounts but at any one time you are a particular user or is it merging timelines/contacts/etc. across all the accounts? As part of my Relatica refactoring I think I'm going to try to add multi-account support and the former seems to be the right way to go to minimize confusion for most workflows.

La sola idea di inviare un messaggio da Pixelfed per vederselo ricondividere su Lemmy (una piattaforma così diversa) è qualcosa di esaltante!
