I once saw a great analogy about sensory issues that used some sort of silos or tanks for the different senses and how they overflow into the other once they are full. Can't find it again. Anyone know what I'm talking about and can point me in a direction?

Do you have more sensible days where your sensory issues are worse? I just had my sensory issue cup overflow by being thirsty. 🙈

Question for my ND friends: how do you cope with downsizing personal belongings?

I'm preparing to move to a new home, and I've been paralyzed by the size of the task of packing and need to throw things away to simplify. The problem is, my stuff feels like an extension of myself, and I know I will regret it.

ADHD is really not a good name for ADHD.

I’m currently working on/mulling over a perspective on , as I try to seriously practice the Dharma with a mind. I have yet to write these thoughts down properly but I’m thinking a lot about the analogy between taking in sense impressions and food/eating, which is also in as part of the Four Nutriments https://plumvillage.org/library/sutras/discourse-on-the-four-kinds-of-nutriments/

annedraya,

Working with this metaphor of nutriment/nutrition made me realise that feels like constantly starving, despite seeming banquets of food (sensory impressions) all around. has a name for that too- the hungry ghost. Being a hungry ghost is usually explained in terms of being a bad rebirth destination due to greediness , but for my ADHD mind it’s more like dying of thirst while stranded at sea- there’s water everywhere but however much you drink, you’ll still be thirsty.

I have a terrible time remembering which pills I've taken or if I already took my pills so I finally got frustrated and devised a random ADHD hack. I can't always remember if I've taken them, but I can remember if they were upside down or right side up for some reason. So I started flipping them over every time I take them. I can also make sure I took all of them because they should all be in the same direction. I'm perplexed, but it's working.

I created this timer web app for my kid to help him stay on track while getting dressed, doing homework, etc. It can do simple countdowns of 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes. It can also do an alternating 10 minutes of study with 3 minute break timer. Also, it can hoot at you every 30 seconds because of course it can. Free to use for anyone who finds it helpful.

rune, to gaming

hello, cutie.city!!! introduction, take 2!

hi, i'm rune! :heart_disability: i'm nonbinary (she/her), bi/pan, polyamorous, pro-kink, and more! despite my limited spoons, i’m fascinated by most everything in the world, including...

  • gaming (ffxiv, minecraft…) :gaming_love:
  • writing (prose, poetry, roleplay…) 🖋️
  • reading (sff, romance…) 📚
  • programming & math :blobfox_computer:
  • music (listening, performing, & composing) 🎹
  • psychology & philosophy :galaxy_brain:
  • visual art (illustration, animation, 3D…) 🎨

the list goes on! and there are so many fascinating things in the world i haven’t even heard of yet!

i'm an ADHD autist and i love getting to know people, but still learning how to make room for myself. i also suffer from complex PTSD and other disabilities, which have resulted in my plurality. i’m happy to meet singlets and other systems alike! :plural_ampersand:

i care deeply about accessibility and disability rights, queer rights, racial equality—really the whole spectrum of human rights (intersectionality is important!) as well as animal rights and environmental issues. honestly, i just care a whole-heckin-lot! :heart_progress: :ms_globe:

unfortunately, this causes a lot of overwhelm and i’m struggling to balance effective activism with self-care. so i might not always be able to engage or research as thoroughly as i’d like. i do what i can to make informed choices and reduce harm, and i’m hoping to curate a space for myself that offers at least some relief from the dumpster fire we live in. :dumpster_fire:

there's probably still a million-billion things i'd like to add but can't remember. above all, the most important thing you need to know about me is that my favorite color is blue. :ms_heart_blue:

Last year, maker Janssen stopped manufacturing its "authorized generic" version through Patriot Pharmaceuticals. Most insurers then switched their formularies to a set of theoretically-equivalent generics from a few different companies, but, as the community have been warning, they're not really that equivalent at all.

One of the good things with my understanding of being is how I now understand what my problem with intensely sunny days is. And, it's not some fault or quirk I can just "fix".

I mean I do love sunlight (to a degree), but it always gives me a headache and makes me cranky and tired. I much prefer an overcast or rainy day. Travelling to Athens in 2019 most exhausting thing was the relentless sun. Also not a fan of heat.

Autumn and evening sun is a different story, but I still prefer hiding in the shade a bit.

It's ok to love rainy days.

This also explains me and intense indoor lighting. Oh how I despice fluorescent lights and bright screens.

The why is so important.

For some reason I thought this was sometime last year but I see I posted this to my site in January. My sense of time is way off these days. LOL I swear I have not taken but I hope you enjoy this one.

akirebubar,

@MarkOnArt My sense of time seems to have nothing to do with actual reality these days. Some of that's for me, but it seems like a LOT of folks w/out those issues have been having trouble tracking time these past few years. Interesting/odd that that should be such a broad experience. In any case, you're definitely not alone!

Also? Gorgeous ! I love the moonlight edging the mushroom, and the texture of lighter sky between tree silhouettes. , truly.
