This is why I don't trust Bicycle Network to do bicycle advocacy. They promote and approve bad designs. They're basically a bicycle friendly face of the car lobby.
This is a bad design, the good design is well known.
When I sold my last car in 2011 and switched to bike (first a standard, last 5 yrs eBike) I walked past the auto-electrician, the tyre place, the rego office, spare parts dealer, the mechanic, the panel beater, the petrol station etc etc and counted all the money I was saving and it made me very happy.
Also noticed how many things I did not spontaneously shopped for because I had no way of getting them home (and really didn't need them anyway).
It works well for me, public transport is used for trips I can't make with the bike.
The freedom of pulling up next to the shop without having to search for a parking spot is priceless.
Some would find it extremely inconvenient for sure. Others, like myself, find it very liberating.

Happy #BicycleBirthday, Clifton! #botd
Oct 14 is deadline for Governor Gavin Newsom to sign or veto these #ActiveTransportation bills (and if he takes no action, these bills become law). Read CalBike's post (link above) for details on these—along with a list of two-year-bills (e.g., AB 73, Boerner Horvath, Bicycle Safety Stop, which legalizes stop-as-yield for bike riders aged 18 or older). #IdahoStop
Mayor of #Montreal, #ValeriePlante, proposes developing “sponge streets” to adapt to #ClimateChange, which would involve making certain streets more permeable by removing asphalt, i.e. parking spaces.
I think Plante is pushing her pro-bike, anti-automobile agenda a tad too far. It's one thing to promote #bicycles and #bike paths, things I'm for, but to continuously antagonize drivers by constantly removing parking spaces is unacceptable.
I have a new to me bicycle frame and fork en route today! This is a model I sold a few years ago, and always regretted, so this is really exciting as these are somewhat rare birds. #bicycles#Fatbike#excited#SingularPuffin#SingularCycles
My son's Cervelo R5 road bike (Posh in plain in English) was stolen from the guards van of an Avanti West Coast Pendolino on Sunday when the train stopped in Crewe. I found a shitty hybrid in the guard's van in its place when I got to London. But the thief put it on Facebook Marketplace today and I've now passed his details on to Crewe Police. I wonder whether any action will be taken… Will we get it back? My breath is tightly held. #theft
May I tag after this to endorse the UK company https://www.bikeregister.com/ who sell bicycle covert marking kits (to aid recovery of goods found that are thought might have been stolen), and run a free to register "bike register" so anyone can record their frame serial no. and their name, should their bike ever later be found by the police?
I forget where I found this, but I'm pretty sure it's public domain and it's my new phone background! Maybe I'll print a copy for the bike shop too. #cycling#bicycles
