Wordpress block editor sucks ass. Random mixing of content (copy/paste different content, yet it merges it stupidly), putting barriers in way of user (just try to move between blocks) etc. Gutenberg would be sad they named this nuisance after him.
Back to Classic editor.
Research has continued and I think that #WriteFreely, despite being a great piece of software, isn't really accurate for my needs and is a bit too restrictive.
#Hugo might be more what I need, so I'll look at upgrading to that at some point. I just need to work out how to self host it!
There are some things about WordPress' internal dashboard that I just don't like. The menu on the left has all this extra crap, things are tough to find within menus, the layout is just kinda overall crappy. Wish they'd overhaul it a bit. I just wish the menu was customizable for everyone using it. I mean, how tough could that be?
Also, some of the confusion going back and forth from legacy widgets, etc has been a total pain, too. And a lot of navigating around the WordPress dashboard UI is just NOT intuitive. The weird 'write' button at the top - does anyone even use that?
Going through Samsung Notes to ensure I transfer the correct weird bits and blurbs of ideas I've frantically typed throughout the last months/years for potential development into WordPress posts via the excellent Jetpack app for Android.
(I know I could write these blurbs directly in Jetpack, but the thing is, not all my notes would necessarily be turned into blog posts, as some are just random notes to myself).
Anyway, the reason for my semi-obsessive note taking is a creativity-related concept I've been grappling with for 30 years now.
Throughout the years, I've found that no matter HOW great and memorable your idea is, you will NOT remember it later. There are exactly two paths. You need to 1) write it down AS SOON AS YOU THINK OF IT, so you can remember it and enjoy it or scrap it later, or, 2) get used to a 'zen' kind of acceptance thing for ideas, to just let them go when you can't remember them later.
The price of remembering an idea is writing it down immediately, wherever you are. Somewhere you can find it.
Or maybe your thing is voice notes, if you remember to check them. I don't like voice stuff. I'm old. I write! 🤣
I truly need to get our #blogs back up, first by deciding what to do with #b2evolution no longer being maintained. I need to expand our #IoT to #SensAE maturity model from [component], connection, communication, contextualization, collaboration, causation and cognition to adding the missing step between #causation and #cognition which is #conceptualization to realize valuable sensor analytics ecosystems (SensAE) such as #teleinteractive#microgrids and #SmartRegions
Good Morning Friends! I have to admit that I am a bit overwhelmed by the fact that we have at the time of posting this 101 blogs participating in #Blaugust2023. I talk a bit about those feelings and how Mastodon has embraced this event.
Writing a new post for my cartoon blog to feature a few posts from this other blog that did a lot of great posts about old animation. But as I was writing and doing my research, I realized the posts for this other blog stopped in 2017 (after being active since 2009). Such a shame. It's always sad to see cool blogs disappear.
@darnell@rm4 yes, I agree. People are realising the dangers of one person / company owning their content. #Blogs are the simplest, most accessible means to own your content, and then the various social media platforms will just be distribution channels for that material. #Mastodon#ActivityPub#Threads#X#Twitter
El declive de la red del pajarito azul (ya desaparecido como logo) y la incertidumbre sobre su futuro han llevado a muchas personas a migrar hacia otras plataformas, como el #fediverso, que recuerda a los tiempos de la revolución de los #blogs.
This #Blaugust thing I'm hearing about this #blaugust2023 is there a theme to it? Is it about gaming blogging or something? In 50 words or less, what is it about? Just #blogging and #blogs?
Hi there, I am looking to follow personal #blogs written by #SouthEastAsians, other #Asians, #Africans. Basically not Western. Nothing wrong with the West just that I have a huge RSS feed full of US, UK blogs. I want to diversify my feed.
Apparently, Malaysians like to #blog about 3 things: Food, politics & money 😂
I prefer genuinely personal blogs that are slice of life stuff. If you know of any please recommend to me! 🙏
Good Morning Friends! This morning I talk about getting Luocha before the banner ends in #HonkaiStarRail and then give a bit of a recap on our #Blaugust2023 sign-ups so far. Really excited that we already have a mix of folks who have never done the #Blaugust event before.
What I love about having a blog on WP.com is that I get to be on its discovery ecosystem. Through its Reader (accessible via the Jetpack app), I get recommended wonderful #blogs
I think this is the future of the #Internet, with #RSS coming into play as well.
Instead of relying on search engines to discover human content, we have to plug into discovery engines like these..
Currently, I discover good human writing via #Mastodon, #Substack and the Reader.
How about you?
