I have started an experimental Matrix service for mementomorians.
Join the room #general:chat.mementomori.social to participate in English.
For Finnish users: Suomalaisille #MementoMoriSocial-käyttäjille löytyy Matrixista huone: #mementomorisocialfi:chat.mementomori.social (joo, tuli vahingossa valittua vähän pitkä nimi).
The delusions of grandeur are strong in this one. How does it make any sense to replace one proprietary, centralised, corporate-owned, government-compromised, chat network with another? Especially where that government is the Russian Federation. Out of the frying pan, into the nuclear meltdown : /
For anyone looking to replace WhatSapp or TellMeGram, I recommend looking into federated and distributed (P2P) chat networks; XMPP, matrix, delta.chat (uses the email network), Jami, Tox, Briar, Nostr etc. At minimum, look for networks with Free Code software available for both apps and servers. For all their flaws (centralisation being the main one), Wire and Signal are head and shoulders above WhatSapp or TellMeGram (whose server software is proprietary).
Case in point: If one doesn't leave their toxicity in the containment tgat is #2b2t, they don't have a right to complain when #Mojang pulls the plug on them if they go full #StreamSniping on regular #Vanilla players...
...to be possible--and, at the same time, suicidally stupid on our part--I also thing that maybe just hooking up the millions of actors and sensors from the #IoT to #Chat-GPT5 (?) could solve the embodiment dilemma.
"Unfortunately, #Converso is not open source and their website is totally silent on cryptographic primitives and protocols, which is highly unusual for a self-proclaimed 'state-of-the-art' privacy application."
"Highly unusual" is the understatement of the century. If anyone believes encryption software can reliably protect their privacy without publishing full source code, I have a bridge they may wish to purchase.
I want to use #GoogleChat in an organization, but users don't use gMail for email (the organization has Microsoft Exchange), and there are no email notifications from Google Chat - is it even worth trying?
#Bing's #Chat#AI is warning that my #selfhosted#Mastodon instance, https://OldFriends.Live "might be a scam or phishing site that tries to trick people into giving their personal information. Please be careful when visiting unknown websites or apps and always check their credibility and security before using them."
Don't forget, #AllThingsTech has our own Discord server for those that are looking to hang out and chat outside of Mastodon.
We feel that there are often times that longer, more in-depth conversations are wanted/needed and Discord is a great place to have those conversations.
It's a great place to give us feedback about our server to help make it a better place.
Come join here if you'd like as we'd love to have anyone and everyone!

fwiw #GPT has no idea what to do with "codependant" but it's pretty sure it has something to do with a species of ant called an Epend Ant #Chat#LLM#LLMs
Gajim 1.7.2 has been released 🚀
This release brings many bug fixes and some useful improvements. Gajim now allows you to delete messages from your local chat history (in case of nasty spam messages). Furthermore, detection of WAV audio files has been improved and you can now click the waveform to skip to a specific timestamp within a voice message. Thank you for all your contributions!

Gajim 1.7.0 is mostly a bug fixing release. Due to fundamental changes in the build system, we decided to jump from 1.6.x to 1.7 directly. Thank you for all your contributions!
