Hey #transmasc folks, I wanna do a #FollowFriday for us - even if you're not chatty about trans stuff! If you're comfortable being named on the post, shout and I'll make a lil masterpost later - I don't want to out anyone or put them on the spot
So i spent a few hours guaranteeing 20 instances, and adding about 25 or 30 endorsements/censors/hesitations.
I love the idea and I think it has a LOT of potential.
Regardless I want to list it all here so the effected instances can be aware and if they wish respond/react. You can read my reason for endorsement of any of the below servers in the links provided.
I’ve searched for accounts to follow using all these tags and found only very few, and none of the power users I follow on Twitter. There is still a wealth of knowledge on Twitter that #Mastodon does not offer yet. If you know anyone please recommend them so I can #follow
These are all people that I interact with and that interact with me. Definitely check out their bio and their feed. You'll want to drop all of them a follow!
For those new to Mastodon, here are some handy tips on getting the most out of your experience:
Follow a lot of people
Follow a lot of people
Follow a lot of people
Follow a lot of people
You can always un-follow them later, if you want to 😋
Also, click on and then follow hashtags that interest you, like #Music or #Books or #ClimateChange or especially #FollowFriday, and discover more good people to follow.
Recommended follow list for Ukraine war on Mastodon
Here are my recommendations for coverage of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Only accounts active recently and you can easily import them from a file. They are split into two different lists by type.
Ukraine: OSINT & war updates
This list mostly has accounts posting quickly about daily events of the war and doing open source intelligence.
The import file relies on the List import feature recently added to Mastodon. I have noticed the list import results in a few accounts sometimes ending up in their separate list by the same name so you may have to fix that manually afterwards if this happens on your instance. If many people are on an older Mastodon version and want it I can also post a follows file that will work for those.
Import instructions:
Sign into your instance on the web
go to settings (Gear icon)
Choose Import and Export -> Import
For import type choose "Lists" (could also be "Translation missing: en.imports.types.lists" if there is an issue with the localization).
Select "merge" to only add to your current follows/lists so nothing you have gets deleted
The world of social media is changing, and we are embracing this new social web, the Fediverse. Today, we started to federate our platform with a test of 25 partners. You can read more about that on @mike's post here:
For this #FollowFriday, I added several very sought-after features to the the Discover Mastodon portal. To make it even easier to find great content on here:
anyone with an established Mastodon account can opt-in for a profile
if you have a profile already, you can directly modify the topic tags on your profile (choose from 70+)
more accessibility-related improvements everywhere (tooltips, aria-labels, and more!)
🧵 Trying something different for #FollowFriday - instead of me listing accounts I invite the #ArtistsOfMastodon to reply to this thread - show us something of your choice!
It's not #FollowFriday but I have the most free time in my hands on Saturdays and Sundays, so here it goes.
I feel like there's a sturdy community here on #Mastodon. I'm really a hermit but feel like I've found my place here.
There are some people here from all over the world that I have never met IRL, but they feel still like a "family" in a sense. They are fellow humans who do not seem to prejudice and are kind towards other individuals. Just like it should be.
@jcrabapple - IT professional, father, sysadmin from Virginia. His calm energy flows around!
@ikkeT - Open source, Linux, cloud and automation nerd from Finland. Always kind.
@originalg - Stu, my man. Always cheering me up and making sure others are okay. A great dude, an engineer, the kinda guy I'd sit with coffee for hours if I were up to it.
@WTL - WordPress hosting and security dude, filmmaker, runner, a mutual in many ways. Always humble towards others. And this guy is from Canada, how awesome is that?
@AlderForrest - Engineer, metalhead, nerd. From Finland, obviously. A great guy I've get to know better during my time on the Fediverse. He runs Calckey!
@GoatsLive - I really don't know anything about GoatsLive but if one's profile says "Spreading some love and happiness in an often difficult world", you know that's a keepsie. I've got only good things from this direction. Lots of love.
@paul - Oh Paul. You remind me of my late father in so many good ways. Always kind comments, always there to talk with. He's an author, cloud consultant, Linux fan, vegan.
@francis - A Norwegian/Brazilian IT Engineer, a runner. Always constructive and kind from my perspective.
@valoisa - Someone I've get to know here, a person I imagine very hearty, considerate and fun! An introvert like me, exciting to talk to, great opinions, often inspiring.
@minnamoira - We go way back in social media, I don't even remember how it started. Glad to see you here on the Fediverse. I can relate to the rough times, I hope you enjoy living in Italy. Wish all the best and love.
@rmattila74 - Another person I learned about more in here on the Fediverse. Nuke engineer retired due ALS. "Defined by the former, not by the latter" is brilliantly put. Thanks for letting me into your world and thank you for the accessibility improvements in my design. I appreciate everything you do here, don't stop spreading awareness and keep on focusing on important things that matter to you like energy.
@mustikkasoppa My dear wife. I love you so much. :bunhdheart:
There are a lot of more brilliant people out there, but these are the ones I want to namedrop at this moment.
Peace & love and have a wonderful Saturday. :ablobcatheart:
