Reality is a bitter pill when you’ve been fed a steady diet of religious fantasy. While life always was random, I felt safer when I could explain it as “God’s will” or “Satan’s handiwork.” I felt extremely exposed & vulnerable without my Cosmic Big Brother watching over me. Step by step, I learned to own my life. Divorcing religion is painful - but it’s also liberating. I love my life ♥️

Scottish Labour leader appeals to pro-independence voters to ‘boot Tories out’

really does not think his meanderings through before he opens his mouth does he? Booting the out just requires that they get fewer seats than parties who oppose them from the left. Why should an independence supporter vote for a party that has and continues to fail Scotland and will suppress any attempts towards ? Remember the VOW!

"Current analysis, particularly outside , mistakenly suggests that the movement toward Scotland’s independence will somehow be over if one is lost. Nothing could be less true. If we step back from short-term electoral calculations and take a long view of change in Scotland, it seems to be headed in only one direction: ."

“This year is more than just an election year. It also marks two major constitutional anniversaries in Scotland and, if trends continue, it may counterintuitively signify the start of a new, more patient phase of the journey towards Scotland becoming independent.”

Patience be damned! That’s fine for twenty-somethings. I’m already resigned to the notion that at this rate, I’ll likely be dead before we get another referendum, never mind independence.

Time has come to do something:
Scotland is losing oil, energy, water to england,
NI is without government for too long,
ERG tories have taken over england,
Labour is no good for Scotland.
Independence movement is splintered and divided and shows no punch anymore.

A new push for is needed. How and what can we do NOW?

A @BBCScotland executive has admitted to a pro union bias against Independence parties. He said "our directive is based on self preservation, as the BBC would cease to exist in an Independent Scotland. He continued "We have no plans to correct this imbalance." The funny thing is that IF the BBC were impartial in their news and told the truth about Scotland and then there would be a case for them to be here and NOT hated as they are now. As it is..bye bye BBC Scotland..🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Have I got this right? Rwanda genocide where nearly 1 million people were butchered by their own people (including their own family and friends) less than 30 years ago. Yet the UK have paid them over £1 billion in aid and then boast they got 2 million Rwandans out of extreme poverty. We have nearly 4m that are in extreme poverty here (1m children) a rise of 61% since 2019 and now they are paying Rwanda £500m to house 200 refugees? Are is coming.. make no mistake!

Today in Labor History December 28, 1918: Constance Markievicz, while detained in Holloway prison, became the first woman to be elected Member of Parliament (MP) to the British House of Commons. She was an Irish revolutionary, suffragist and socialist, who fought in the Easter Rising in 1916, when Irish republicans attempted to end British rule and establish an Irish Republic. Originally, they had sentenced her to death for her role in the Rising. However, they commuted her sentence to life imprisonment because she was a woman. During the Rising, she designed the Citizen Army uniform, composed its anthem, and fought in St Stephen's Green, where she shot a member of the Dublin Metropolitan Police.

testing, to worldwithoutus in French government announces constitutional amendments for New Caledonia
testing avatar

from the article:

The proposed Constitutional change directly concerns New Caledonia's sensitive issue of the electoral roll, which had been "frozen" since 2007, as prescribed by the autonomy Nouméa Accord signed in 1998.

The Accord saw fit to disqualify French citizens who had not resided in New Caledonia before 1998, in a move that, at the time, was seen as a step to ensure indigenous Kanaks were not at risk of becoming a minority in their own country.

The French government's draft Constitutional bill is described as restoring the universal voting rights of French citizens, especially with regards to local elections such as the election of members of the Congress (territorial parliament) as well as the three provincial assemblies.

It is believed that due to the previous restrictions, some 20,000 French citizens (most non-Kanaks) residing in New Caledonia are being denied their voting rights for these local elections.

The Paris government was also invoking France's adherence to world-recognised democratic universal rights as enshrined in its Constitution.

France has attempted, for the past year, to get all of New Caledonia's local political parties to come to the discussing table and come up with a new agreement on New Caledonia's political future after the Nouméa Accord, signed in 1998, is now regarded as having expired.

But to date, despite several attempts on the part of the French government and five trips by French Home Affairs and Overseas minister Gérald Darmanin, one component of the pro-independence FLNKS umbrella, the Union Calédonienne (UC), even though it has participated in discussions at some level, is still refusing to join inclusive talks.

One of the main figures in the pro-French part of the political spectrum, Sonia Backès (head of the "Les Loyalists" party) said the French constitutional reform plan was "very good news".

"This means New Caledonia will go from a transitional to a permanent status in the French Constitution", she said.

But she regretted that a minimum of ten years ("too long", she said) was now to become the rule to become an eligible voter.

On the side of the pro-independence FLNKS front, its current "animator", Victor Tutugoro (who also leads the moderate pro-independence Union of Melanesian Parties -UPM-, one of the members of FLNKS), said he was "not surprised" but that his priority was now to find a "local agreement" between "local political stakeholders" which could be a successor to the Nouméa Accord.

He however expressed doubts on whether the Constitutional Amendment will get sufficient support in the French Congress (three-fifths of the votes are required).

"Things are a bit difficult if you look at the concept of government majority. Will the French government muster enough support? We don't know."

Good Morning
On December 11th 1931, the Statute of Westminster dramatically increased the sovereignty of Canada and gave us the right to self-governing. As the statute removed nearly all of the British parliament's authority to legislate for Canada, it was a crucial step in our development as a separate state.

Today in Labor History December 10, 1861: Nguyễn Trung Trực, along with his militia, sunk the French lorcha L'Esperance. Nguyễn Trung Trực was a fisherman who organized and led a guerilla rebellion against French colonial forces in the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam in the 1860s. They used snipers to assassinate isolated French soldiers and chased French soldiers around the countryside, attacking military installations that were left undefended. Their intimate knowledge of the territory and their skill in hit-and-run tactics allowed them to inflict substantial casualties on the European troops.

Today in Labor History December 6, 1810: Miguel Hidalgo decreed an end to slavery in Mexico. However, slavery continued in parts of Mexico until 1829, when Afro-Mestizo President Vicente Ramon Guerrero banned it again. Between the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs and 1829, over 200,000 enslaved Africans were brought to New Spain, as Mexico was known then. An estimated 1.3 million Mexicans today claim African ancestry. Guerrero had been one of the key strategists and military commanders in Mexico’s war of independence from Spain.
