Good morning, noon or night friends! How's it going? It's been an exciting day here. I got to pet our neighborhood stray cat for the 1st time and we went to the garden glow at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. I wanted to share a few pictures from tonight.
Most extreme #SolarStorm in 20 years brings beautiful #Northern#Lights. Photos taken from all over the world show bright-colored skies across Europe, New Zealand and in the U.S., where it was visible farther south than usual.
Hmm, energy efficiency tip: can light fixtures are a huge source of air loss, unless you have special ICAT-labeled recessed light fixtures which are properly insulated. Old can lights apparently CANNOT BE INSULATED due to fire danger. Giant hole up into your attic where every one of those is installed. (16 installed and not rated to have insulation anywhere near them in this house I am in right now). #insulation#EnergyEfficiency#lightshttps://basc.pnnl.gov/resource-guides/air-sealing-recessed-light-fixtures-below-unconditioned-space
"Recessed “can” ceiling fixtures, or downlights, are the most popular home lighting fixture in the United States. However, recessed can fixtures can be energy intensive in three ways—if they are not approved for insulation contact and are installed in an insulated ceiling, insulation has to be kept at least 3 inches from the fixture all the way around, leaving about 1 square foot of uninsulated ceiling space.
