When created their new logo with :// in it, the team behind reached out to me and asked if I had any objections since already was using :// in our logo.

I did not object - I approved of it. I think it validated our logo choice and I am jealous they have a name that can hold :// integrated the way they do.

Not surprised by the new security vulnerability in Mozilla's PDF.js - patched in latest Firefox. But remind me again why browsers try to render PDFs to begin with?

Displaying PDFs in browsers opens a huge new attack surface. PDFs are complex. Browsers render PDF forms poorly and offer only a limited subset of the many accessibility features provided by dedicated PDF software.

I wish none of the browser makers did this.

WTF is wrong with the people at ? I don’t care how much they say they’ve anonymized the personal data grabs - this just makes them look like every other privacy-invading enshittified company.

Having an understanding of what types of searches happen most frequently will give us a better understanding of what’s important to our users […]

Here’s what’s important to me, as your user: that you don’t spy on my personal activity. You can have that one for free, and nothing else.

Mozilla "privacy first" Firefox will send Mozilla anything you type into the search bar, location data, and whether you clicked on a suggestion.

They use this to show you search suggestions, including ads.

This is from 2021

They now want to collect more data on what you click on:

Multi-Account Containers would be sooo much better when:

a) it had a per Container Whitelist of domains that are allowed in the Container

b) you could set up a Private Container that deletes all cookies, browser storage, history, etc. on browser restart (i.e. like a Private Window)

b) you could globally set all links that are not in the per Container Whitelist to open in the Private Container

And I especially want this in Firefox Mobile too.

🦁💧 After 3 years I had to change my default desktop browser:
Brave ➡️ Waterfox

Reason: weird keyboard input bugs(?) in Brave for Windows (employer's machine), and of course it only happened to me (no word about it on the Brave forum). Maybe someone was spying on me, or simply a Windows bug.

On I've installed Fennec () to sync my bookmarks with Waterfox via my account.
Both & Fennec are pretty nice browsers!
And Fennec has add-ons even on mobile 🙃
