I deleted all my youtube subscriptions from #NewPipe and went peertube-only.
I'll still occasionally look up videos and channels in YT on NewPipe, but my subscriptions feed is 95% #PeerTube now.
Make heavy use of sepia search and you'll be able to find lots of good content.
Just be aware that people don't post to newpipe as often as the average youtuber.
Also, there's a lot of good stuff on #TilVids
If Mastodon is Twitter, Friendica is Facebook, and Lemmy is Reddit, but they're all communicating together, is there any real need to make different accounts unless we want to try out different features?
@sharan The difference is whether you are a user or a creator.
With the services you choose, it doesn't matter where you are. The situation is different with #Pixelfed#Funkwhale#Peertube etc.
If you are a creator, accounts there make perfect sense. for pure consumption, an account with whatever is enough.
Hey #infosec any recommendations on #Peertube? Like a good instance to join, should I host my own or upload to somewhere else, anything infosec / #hacking themed already out there? Curious...
Day 1
Where am I? Is this the Fediverse? What is the Mastodon? How do I Calckey? Am I Pixelfed?

What I've learned about #Fediverse (#Mastodon#Calckey etc) condensed to help others.
Day10
If there are subjects I don't want to deal with I can set filter words in my profile settings which will stop certain topics from showing up in my feeds.
#Fediverse & it's different platforms+software have masses of clever tools, & different ways to access. You communicate with people all over the Fediverse, across different platforms.
So much more to explore, new projects, new apps:
#PixelFed like Instagram but not constantly trying to sell you stuff #PeerTube like Youtube but not ads based #Friendica like Facebook but not harvesting your data or radicalising your relatives #Mastodon millions use it as Twitter without all the Nazis #Calckey a really smooth & fun new Twitter replacement with loads more features than Twitter
& many more to discover. They all communicate together, you can use any or all, keep your people, your following circles across all of them.
Enjoy!
I tried to synchronize my entire Youtube channel to my new #Peertube account but it only imported like maybe 5 of 900+ videos successfully I looked at the ones that it imported and they looked the same as all the ones that failed what is the deal here
As a content creator, I’m all for getting more money, but forcing users to watch ads isn’t the way to do it… I think YouTube would lose a lot of viewers if they enforced this on everyone, and creators would suffer as a result.
If you're interested in pure #PeerTube experience with multi-acckunt support and don't mind the lack of comment section, you can try #Thorium. It's available on F-Droid.
I’m hearing murmurs of YouTube blocking browsers that support ad blockers.
You know where you don’t have to worry about such things? Host your videos on a #PeerTube instance and use #Owncast for your live video streaming needs.
@owncast I've been on Mastodon since late November last year, and am finally comfortable & confident enough to explore the rest of the #Fediverse. Are there any guides available on #Owncast & #PeerTube suitable for a complete rookie?
@owncast are any open #Peertube instances LGBTQ-friendly? My first search showed a strong homophobic/anti-queer bias, which dissuaded me from looking for any more videos or streaming/hosting information.
