Bramble the juvenile this morning in . Bramble is 5 1/2 weeks old and fully independent, trying to their way in the world. This is Bramble's favourite perch, where they sit and wait for an insect to fly past or a spider to run on the ground below.

My friend Bramble (offspring of Hedgy and Hazel) having a snack this evening. Bramble was busy catching flies when I visited this evening, seemed to be enjoying it. In .

My latest friend, Bramble. Bramble is just over 5 weeks old & is now fully independent. For now, Bramble is hanging around close to the nest site, but will shortly begin to wander further afield in search of a territory. Bramble is now adept at catching food, including flies & fast-moving spiders, so stands a good chance of survival.

Some sad news, 3 days ago my friend Hedgy lost a challenge from a rival male, who is now occupying their territory. Both Hedgy & Hazel are still alive, but will be looking for a new home. I shall miss them dearly, but they are wild birds & this is their way. Both of their surviving fledglings are fine and are now fully independent, and one of them (Bramble) is still hanging around for the time-being. My other Robin pair (Little Mate & Maple) are doing well - Maple is now sitting on eggs.

One the fledglings surprised me by taking food from my hand today. This one has also started catching its own food and seems to be getting quite good at it. Won't be long until it will have to go off and set up home somewhere, hopefully nearby.

My friends Hedgy and Hazel feeding their fledglings today (or in one case attempting to feed one of the chicks a bee, but it turned it down). The chicks left the nest 11 days ago, they can now fly quite well and are starting to find their own food, while still getting plenty from the parents. In
.

A collection of clips of fledgling European Robins being fed by their parents. On one occasion a parent drops a mealworm and has to pick it up from the floor, and on another occasion it attemtps to feed its chick a bee, but the chick refuses.

My friend Hedgy collecting food for his fledglings this evening. At least 3 of the 5 chicks that left the nest 9 days ago are still around, usually hiding in the hedge, and the parents are still feeding them. In .

It was finally dry enough to get some proper gardening done this afternoon. Shattered now, but did have some pleasing feathered visitors while I was out there.

To be fair, ignoring the above failure, the wee robin did give me a couple of nice poses today.
