2023
warmest year on record

This year has now had six record breaking months.

November had, for the first time ever, two days with a global temperature 2ºC above
preindustrial levels.

These extreme temperatures confirm that 2023 will be the warmest year in recorded history.

It serves as a stark reminder that we need to work together to drastically reduce emissions.

This is why we're pushing for stronger climate ambition, finance, and global energy goals at

I want to say the most important measures lack priority:

car free cities, permaculture, passive heating/cooling building design

car-free itself saves time, lives, money, energy and is economically vibrant. car centric design is financially insolvent. It is climate mitigation and adaptation. It costs far less than renewables and especially EVs. It the pathway for a sustainable future developing nations can embrace.

It should be a top priority but isn’t.

Holy shit. Thanks @pluralistic now I don't want to fly anymore 😱

Boeing's 787 "Dreamliner" is manufactured ... in a non-union shop in Charleston, South Carolina. At that shop, there is a cage full of defective parts that have been pulled from production because they are not airworthy.

Hundreds of parts from that Material Review Segregation Area (MRSA) were secretly pulled from that cage and installed on aircraft that are currently flying the world's skies.

Ah this is a return to traditional US manufacturing. In the good old days (1980s) when my father worked in the valley for a big, three letter company starting with G and ending with E, received parts from Fairchild or other component manufacturers, they’d test them all in a large on site facility.

Why? Because in those days, it was standard practice to mix 10% known failed parts into any shipment.

As The Guardian points out:

'mainstream economics is proving incapable of giving sensible answers to important questions', but the problem is that Rachel Reeves remains in its thrall rather than listening to dissenting voices.

Until our policy makers realise what works in 'econoworld' seldom works like that in the real world, they'll try to re-organise the world to look like economists think it should look, rather that find an economics for the real world!

"A fundamental requirement for realistic economics is to abandon the 19th century (in)convenience of assuming equilibrium, and to instead model the economy as a dynamic (and evolving) system. This raises the question of how to treat time itself, and the appalling pun in the title of this chapter highlights the fact that economic modellers in general, ... have habitually treated time as a discrete rather than a continuous ..."

Nordhaus is an economist who wrote papers in the 80s to trivialize the consequence of climate change. He is allied with other individuals that worked to spread corporate disinformation on tobacco, asbestos, CFCs and acid rain. His papers provided policy legitimatization to ignore climate change. Koch is more widely known for his own activities and has sponsored science denial. The result is climate crisis.

Oh no, the flag of a nation is being rubbished because of the genocidal behavior of its government. I am old enough to remember the US flag being burnt by students in protest of Vietnam, or by Iranian students in protest of the Shah. US students, citizens were furious.

Israel is not the Jewish community and rebuke of its conduct is not antisemitism.
