So, we bought mealworms (dried) for the chickens: they're not interested. Luckely the wild birds are.

We got some 'toys', things they could peck at: not interested.

The best thing is cut grass or other greens they can eat. The rest is meh.

Klara,
@Klara@fosstodon.org avatar

@jan Things that get chickens exited: greens that are covered in insects and such, disturbing a bit of ground in their coop with a spade (carefully, with overexited chickens al around) and leftover spaghetti

@caiocgo @claus it is possible to follow several languages and not use translate. Suffices to know many languages 😁
I don't use translate for Dutch, French, English, German.
Some Italian, Spanish, Luxemburgish i'll understand without help. But beyond that I am glad translate exists.

I think pleasure wouldn't stay interesting for long.

It cannot replace friendship and togetherness, it certainly cannot replace adventure.
It seems like a lonely existence.

Meta’s new “consent” wall is scam that undermines the European Court of Justice’s ruling of July.
This deceptive design pushes the user to “consent” to unrestricted use of their data. That includes intimate data that Meta obtains by tracking the user on other websites and apps.

Nah, they were just stalling again.

    Via Kyle Cheney:

Judge (who hopefully remembered to set her clock back) just resolved dumbest dispute yet in DC trial, permitting prosecutors to file a 90-pg single response to 2 Trump motions rather than 2 45-page responses.

Trump’s lawyers argued that sgl oversized brief risked confusing the 2 distinct motions & wd complicate the matter in potential appeal

REMINDER: ChatGPT, Stable Diffusion, and other large trained neural models are NOT "artificial intelligence", they're just stochastic parrots, remixing and regurgitating what they've been fed. There's no theory-of-mind involved, so no understanding: there's no "there" there. (A real live parrot exhibits more intelligence than this.)

Don't call it AI; call it parrot-tech. That way you'll have a better perspective on what it can (and can't) do.

Gun control is a contentious issue in the United States. Its origins are complex, tied to a history of racial tension, political power dynamics, & competing interpretations of the Second Amendment. One significant chapter in this history is the emergence of the Black Panther Party and their role in the gun control debate.

*a file that you've created and kept, even if the current copy you have in your current computer is newer than the original. Ex: downloading today a file from the internet that was made in the 90s doesn't count, but a file you downloaded in the 90s and kept with you throughout does.

On that Guardian piece, I see the “I went to a non-uniform school and children were bullied for what they wore” mob rocked up. I went to a secondary with a uniform policy. Guess what? Bullying was rife there too. And still about garments and accessories. Your coat. The shoes you wore. The trainers you had in PE. The bag you had, how tatty it was and whether it had a brand. It’s a bullying culture problem, not a uniform/non-uniform one.

@Tattooed_mummy @Hellybootwader @Melinda @gardening I am participating in a citizen science project, and what is absolutely clear already, is that seeds on grass are a waste of money.

Patch A: no seeds, but all three patches are cut 2 times per year and cuttings removed 3 days later.

    Patch B: seeds on grass

Patch C: seeds on bare soil. Only on this plot have the seeds (those that like our poor chalky soil) taken hold.

So hire a mole and rake in seeds, if removing grass it is too much work.

Patch of grass C: lots of different flowers in the grass
Patch of grass B: some flowers in the grass, but none from the seed-mix

    Deglassco, (edited ) to history

In 1920, Mamie Smith became the FIRST Black American to record a Blues song. "Crazy Blues” ushered in a new era of "race records.” Previously, white singers copied Black vocal styles in blues recordings, while Black entertainers like Ma Rainey, Ethel Waters, & Bessie Smith were confined to the "Chitlin Circuit." Mamie Smith’s success paved the way for black blues & jazz musicians to thrive.
