There’s a huge difference between saying you have no right to force your faith on others and your faith isn’t welcome at all. Important note: asking people to treat others kindly and with respect is not forcing one’s faith or politics or beliefs on anyone. It’s working to enforce the social contract.

I have an odd request for some assistance.

My grandfather as far as I can find out was born Dec 5, 1888 in what was called Gubernia, Russia. He came to the US through Ellis Island on the Graf Waldersee out of Hamburg on May 13, 1906. I have the records of his arrival..

I don’t know anything about him, he died when my father was a young child. My father is gone now also.

Would there be a repository where they would have his birth, school records somewhere?

Any ideas would be most appreciated..

In keeping with late-summer tradition, a so-called “friend” abandoned a large squash on my doorstep. She called it a zucchini, but the skin is thicker and a bit warty. I think I’ll cut it into chunks, toss with olive oil and s/p and roast it. And probably some fresh herbs. Any other ideas?

And it’s not a serious proposition. Booting a woman from the Democratic ticket, booting a Black woman (the most important Democratic voting block), isn't anything more than pundits grasping for subjects to write about instead of the real stuff. As usual.

Same for anyone else pushing for it. Knowingly or unknowingly, they’re helping the right.
