Burning down a refugee camp is not a tragic mishap, especially if you first burned down the refugees original homes, their hospitals, their water pumps and treatment plants, and their fields. No, it is not a mishap. It is an intentional act of violence against people who have lost everything.

Berlin PEP: progressive except for Palestine, as seen in Berlin. In an exhibit called “Berlin Global” at the Humboldt Forum showcasing supposedly freedom-loving Berlin, people are invited to place political stickers on an interactive installation. I placed a Free Palestine sticker. The guard discreetly thanked me & explained how museum staff will remove the sticker while others will remain. The hypocrisy of the exhibit is telling; oppression of Palestine solidarity is widespread in Germany.

Just installing Fedora Silverblue and realised that if you boot into the USB disk in legacy mode, it does a legacy install. If you boot into it in UEFI, it does a UEFI install.

Wish this was made clear in the interface and you could actually choose what you wanted. I mean, I really think UEFI should be the default no matter what these days with the option to change it if you really want to, no?

@aral it's not really possible to do a UEFI native install when booted in CSM mode - it's literally not possible for the installer to write a UEFI bootloader entry, the firmware does not expose the necessary interfaces.

we could make it possible to do a BIOS native install from a UEFI boot, I guess, but it seems like a weird thing to do.

I'm so sick of "big men" enamored of the trappings of power & anyone impressed with them. I'm sick of the mystique of "all he had to do was wave a finger & you were dead" & that is supposed to be impressive rather than terrifying & childish. I'm sick of their entourages, and the way they stick out their lips, pout, posture, bluster. The way they use other people as decorations.

They way they lie to your face as a power play.

It's all... so embarrassing for the human animal of which I am one.

@inquiline I hate this so much, I am currently having to defend myself in discussions with colleagues because I signed a statement arguing that as professors, we should stand in solidarity with student protesters subjected to police violence. Even a liberal-conservative history professor (who is very much on the other side of the protests in many of the debates around antisemitism and Israel) came down to help the students negotiate with police and has now criticised the cops sharply
