As Hyperloop One shuts down, we need to remember that the Hyperloop was never meant to be built.

Elon Musk’s goal was never to transform transportation for the masses, but to stop or delay high-speed rail from reaching North America. Sadly, he succeeded — and we all lost as a result. While the rest of the world moved forward, the US remains stuck in the past.

Whats really needed is a public transportation of trains, trams and buses that's publicly managed with subcontractors, not a corporation with monopoly. A system that gets priority over all car traffic that people can rely on to just work.

Like red blood cells transporting oxygen in a body, not the blood clot that is induced demand car traffic.

I 100% disagree.

Yes, the protocol offers a plethora of ways to filter content and ensure you never come across, say, Nazis.

But that’s not what content moderation is. Content moderation is making decisions. It is either welcoming or refusing certain types of content on your platform.

If you’re letting everyone in, and telling your users "but you have control!", you’re not moderating anything. You’re just quitting.

@JustinH @nileane If they don't change this model, it's gonna turn into an absolute disaster. I remember reading about this but had hoped they'd actually solved this by now. Seeing as this was almost a year ago.

Server operators must be able to moderate the content they host and link. Not only morally but they have a legal responsibility.

If is as "open" as they claim, it needs server blocking or a fork. Hiding users is not going to work if bad actors can post all kinds of horrors.

BlueSkys official account just highlighted a community developer project to bridge it with

early on decided not to go with the open standard in favor of implementating features like account migration. Planning to start federating next year, they've made some decisions I'm skeptical about.

Many servers will likely decide against bridging, having different values regarding privacy and data collection. What do you think?

But looks like it was shut down by Twitch.

They misinterpreted the whole thing, perhaps intentionally. AI is being used to flag/ban without considering context and I hope that this is reconsidered.

This indie game is looking interesting. It's like or . A virtual tabletop but entirely in virtual reality.

I can't help to think how nice it would be if had a toolbox or inventory system built inside it like this. Then you'd already have access to a vast library of avatars and maps and a platform that most roleplayers are already familiar with. Building in & .

  • "Will the algorithm suppress this?"
  • "Should I censor this word with random characters to avoid bot spam?"

So I just tried opting into (https://brid.gy/mastodon/@atomicpoet@atomicpoet.org).

I found it confusing. For one thing, it asks me for my Mastodon account. Though Akkoma uses Mastodon’s API, not all sites recognize this nor support it—I don’t know if BridgyFed would reject.

Secondly, it’s not clear how to opt in. I think I opted in but there was nothing to say “Congrats! People from can see you!”

Also, how do I receive posts? That’s not apparent to me.
