Thinking about how Folks held on to Twitter and Facebook for so long. I kinda feel that the folks who want mastodon/fedi to replace those networks perhaps didn't realise that for some of us, we'd already moved several times.

Once you've moved on from your first one emotionally it's easier.

So for those of us where this isn't their first rodeo what was your network pre Facebook? :BoostOK:

The report finds that it would take about 1,500 years for someone in the bottom 99% to produce as much carbon as the richest billionaires do in a year.

“The super-rich are plundering and polluting the planet to the point of destruction and it is those who can least afford it who are paying the highest price,” said Chiara Liguori, Oxfam’s senior justice policy adviser.

@mobilehugh @AndreasDavour @ttrpg The characters in our most recent campaign (https://gbdw.itch.io/wave-chasers by @pocgamer ) aren't interested in killing people or even animals, so they avoid combat, and when they do fight they rely on less-lethal weapons like flashbang grenades, rubber bullets, and stun guns.

The core moral lesson of Star Wars is that Fascists are bad and it's good to shoot them (with lasers), and while the property has plenty of issues, I still think that's a pretty strong basic ethos.

No, I'm saying Star Wars considers the U.S. to be former rebels who turned fascist and colonial.

If we pretend that the only options are:

    1. Chronological feed
    2. Algorithmic feed where a company chooses the algorithm and objective function

And we pretend that "Share of time is a perfect metric for happiness," then this might make sense.

But... time spent isn't a perfect metric for happiness, and there is another option: 3) Algorithmic feed where the user has more control of the algorithm and objective function.

Eg, chronological is an algorithmic feed!🙂🙃

First the Orcas and now the dolphins. I think they are sick of our sh*t.

"Swimmers injured in dolphin attacks on Japan beach

One man, in his 60s, suffered broken ribs and bites to his hands after a dolphin rammed him a few metres off Suishohama beach in the town of Mihama, Fukui prefecture, early on Sunday.

Another man, in his 40s, sustained arm bites in a separate incident on the popular beach the same morning.

Two more people were injured by the mammals later in the day.

Fukui has now recorded six such attacks this year, local police say.

Signs have been put up telling swimmers to avoid approaching or touching the mammals."
