I bet someone thought that selling on the most hated store on the PC realm, without physical copies, sold exclusively for current gen consoles on their exclusive storefronts, would never lead to unprofitability.

Is there anyone daily driving BTRFS on Linux? How many times have you wished you went EXT4 instead?

@visone I’ll take that as “BTRFS is the best after macaroni and cheese”

Just going to nonchalantly shove in some awareness to my GitHub Sponsorship.

If you value my contributions to Open Source and Laravel, just leave a small tip or become a sponsor. It helps me pay the bills.

I really like Nuxt 3, but not having a clear way to override the global $fetch is a deal breaker to me.

In other words, you're bound plumb your way up to what you need.

And that's what I hate from most Javascript frameworks. There is a lot of plumbing to make something work.

Do you struggle with modern slang? Are you confused by stuff like "level 5" and "rizzler"?

If yes, my new app is right for you! Rizzference has just entered public TestFlight, so give it a try before anyone else: https://testflight.apple.com/join/hSVtJLRj

It can:

  • Pull slang out of an entire sentence + define multiple words at once
  • Do 👆 through Shortcuts
  • Show multiple possible definitions for words
  • Run on and

Built in for iOS 17 and macOS 13

@davidbures I would add slang for the day and a button to get random slangs.

Honestly, there was a time where MariaDB was relevant, and that was when PostgreSQL was weird, MS SQL was costly, and MySQL was on the verge of being proprietary.

Today, MS SQL has low entrance barriers, MySQL still works, and PostgreSQL is versatile and rock solid.

What does MariaDB offers that other don’t?

So excited to announce a brand new feature for StreetPass: Custom Profile URLs! Users now have the ability to set a custom URL scheme they want profiles to be opened with.

This feature is super powerful. Not only can you set it to your home server to easily follow people, you can also set it to 3rd party Mastodon apps... even native ones (🤯)! A few presets include @ivory, @elk, and @IceCubesApp, as well as mastodon.social & mastodon.online

Try it today at https://streetpass.social 😄

So I went to a couple of car meets today and did an A/B/C on an and . All images appear in this sequence:

  1. app on 14 Pro, RAW with as many post-processing options turned off as possible
    2 iPhone 14 Pro camera app,
  2. 7, RAW

The photos are mostly images of cars, not people.

All images are shot with the default 1x lens.

All images are imported as .dng into Lightroom and left as-is except for Halide shots which are all inexplicably overexposed by around 1.5 stops. For those shots, I manually lowered exposure, but left all other sliders where they were.

Halide produces 12 MP images even when I choose 48 MP. iPhone camera produces 48 MP images. Pixel 7 produces 12 MP images. It’s pretty obvious that the “48 MP” and “50 MP” images are synthesized out of binned-pixel 12 MP sensors. The images uploaded here are downscaled to 1080p jpgs using the same Lightroom settings (sRGB, 95% quality).

OK, on with the show!

darkghosthunter,
@darkghosthunter@mastodon.social avatar

@drahardja Is the Nikon the most accurate of all? Saw the orange car, compared to it seems less saturated, but I think the Nikon is the gold standard.

darkghosthunter,
@darkghosthunter@mastodon.social avatar

@drahardja got it. It’s a shame that the stock camera apps can’t offer a non-processed image, instead of requiering a third party. May be in the future Apple can offer the full 48MP image to third parties.

Microsoft is killing WordPad, Windows’ 28-year-old built-in word processor

WordPad is one of the few built-in apps not to be updated in Windows 11.

Going back to explore Windows Mixed Reality after using visionOS, I'm struck just as much by their similarities as their differences. These are very similar OSes.

visionOS scales windows so they look like they cover the same surface area as you position them; Windows just moves them at their current size.

Windows also lets you pin windows to your viewport so they follow you; visionOS has no such feature.

Apple has positioned window controls at the bottom of the window, Microsoft the top

I can't read the NY Times story about Twitter limiting access to posts because the NY Times limits access to their stories.

The irony, it burns.

darkghosthunter,
@darkghosthunter@mastodon.social avatar

@fraying There is no harm in ads, but there is harm on obnoxious and annoying ads. Twitter was relatively fine, until these started to be annoying.

I couldn't read 4 tweets before an ad masquerading as part of the conversation. I had to use an extension.

Everything adds up to want to just get off the platform.

If this happened in 2015, we would only call it a bad weekend.
