The by Snarfed was soft-launched this week - still very alpha and a lot of things don't work, but posts are starting to come through both ways 🙂

Right now you need to follow the bridge to get bridged (the DM-request mechanism isn't finished yet). I'm tracking the bridged accounts (M->B) here: https://blue.mackuba.eu/directory/fedi

djsaunders03,

@mackuba I have a question... does the bridge work when you follow the bridge account, but you don't have a Bluesky account?

Or do you have to have a Bluesky account?

There are some good and helpful uses for it.

The way it's being used now by practically every big tech company in town (including Mozilla)... is not one of those good uses.

They've apparently learned very little from the last time such a big bubble burst...

So this occurred to me... the furthest I went back to regarding past versions of Windows is when I ran Windows 3.11 in DOSBox-X. I haven't ran Windows 1.x (1985) or 2.x (1987) at all.

Then again, I do remember seeing something along the lines of, "Windows 3.1 was when Microsoft Windows started to be taken seriously as a GUI operating system."

So... if Windows 95 made Windows a household name, then and its GUI improvements planted the seeds for that success... right?

...and this has me being reminded of when was used in the 1980s here in the United States. Of course, it never really caught on in the US (or in North America, for that matter).

However, it's great to see that more and more improvements are being made to Nathan's version of Ceefax, including live news updates (under the "Ceefax Files" banner) and a programming schedule for BBC's radio networks, which I now noticed.

@kylewritescode Not only that, but in implementing it in the future, will be making the iPhones fragile and much more prone to breaking should one ever so slightly mishandle it.

They may not see anything wrong with this now, but come the next few weeks once it's implemented, I'm sure they'll reconsider the touch bar once enough iPhone owners try to get it repaired.

Speaking of repairs, Apple needs to work on making them easier for said owners. I mean that sincerely.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter/X, is floating an idea that he’s had before, but never mentioned publicly: charging people to use social media.

@Free_Press And there goes the remaining userbase of Twitter in the next 48 hours, TOPS. Yet another change to suit him and him alone. Even his cronies would be angry.

It's amazing to see himself try to prove once again that rock bottom, somehow, is not low enough.

Once, he was hailed as a genius. Now, he's an absolute klutz who considers himself a genius. His spectacular fall from grace continues. Cue the next wave of the great .

Been sitting on an iPhone 11 Pro for years, not been anything to justify the upgrade. The switch to USB-C combined with my current phone’s lightning port dying is really the only thing that’s getting me to an iPhone 15… kinda disappointing.

djsaunders03,
@djsaunders03@fosstodon.org avatar

@endareth The only times I really wanted to upgrade iPhone was when it was worth it for me, which was not often.

I've had an iPhone 8 Plus as my first phone from 2018 to 2021, when I got an iPhone 12 Pro Max for Christmas. Two years later in June, I got an iPhone 14 Pro Max on the day of my senior prom (which was actually my second).

I'm not upgrading, either, but that's because not only have I had this phone for just three months, but I'm happy with what I have right now.

It's just him wanting to rule the world... without having a shred of a clue on what it actually takes to rule the world.

Apps, services, and products alike are built by people who take time out of their daily lives to get the job done. People who (theoretically) care about what's being done.

This is a masterclass on how not to change a company name.

Anyone else would not change the name to a trademark their competitor owns, the logo to a symbol they cannot own and then try to take down the sign at headquarters only to have the cops shut that down because they had no permit. 🤦‍♂️

He can keep dreaming about the everything app, but that means it will need to have the infrastructure for (legally) streaming TV shows, processing payments, being a telephone service, a dating app, etc.

To do that, it needs people to build them. Guess what this website's lacking thanks to him?

Of course, he talked to himself, so he thought it would make for a great logo.

The problem isn't that there are only so many ways you can make an "X" presentable as a logo. It's that he chose a Unicode character as the new logo in the first place.
