It has become too expensive to look for work on #Upwork. The amount of connects required for even basic jobs is insane. Considering you only get about 10 a month and most jobs are now going for 12 to 16 connects on average, my income has catered on the site.
And lastly, once I had built a good rating you never even had to apply for any projects — clients and agents started inviting me themselves. Have you completed many projects there already or were more in the “getting started” phase? Or could it be that your specific niche has been impacted by AI? In any case - take care! (2/2)
@hpkomic Hmm, full disclosure - I have not worked there for several years already but I do not think this sounds like a bad thing. Back when I worked there it was way too cheap to apply for projects and that resulted in huge inefficiencies. Also for me as a freelancer - I had to send out too many applications. These changes must have reduced the average number of competitors - thus making it also a better experience for the freelancer. (1/2)
@hpkomic That is an impressive record indeed 🤩🙌🏻 In such case, there indeed must be some issues with Upwork’s business model — if even top rated freelancers with proven success have to struggle… Do exclusive / corporate talent pools still exist there? I also get the feeling sometimes that people have got used to this war / tired of it and no longer care that much. But please let us remember that millions of Ukrainians are still out of their homes, russia is still bombing civilians almost daily.

He has been struggling with addiction since Season 2 of Friends); he’s professed a profound sense of loneliness; and the specifics of his death - based on what we know - feel tragic in the Ancient Greek sense. Here was an individual who climbed to the very pinnacle of what this society would consider success and yet lived a life in such palpable misery. I think speaks with profound sorrow to the world we have built.
