โ€œBut some people have a hard time accepting and respecting that some humans are different from others. Those fantasizing... that the heteronormative ideals they grew up with are absolute gospel sometimes take great offense at being asked to adjust their vocabulary to communicate respect for a community that has spent centuries forced to live in the shadows or risk safety due to the widespread pathologization of their identities.โ€

According to my original research (AKA Googling as fast as I can) TNG wins this.

TNG:
S6.E8 -A Fistful of Datas
Episode aired Nov 7, 1992

Red Dwarf: Episode no: Series 6; Episode 3
Original air date: 21 October 1993

If you got upset at me for pointing out that more people died of Covid under Biden than Trump, in large part because Biden rolled back common sense restrictions that were in place under Trump...

Then you'll hate me pointing out that Trump introduced a 25% tariff on Chinese EVs, and Biden is upping that to 100% tariff.

Here's the story: Last week, X partially reinstated its deadnaming policy, this time saying that it would reduce the visibility of posts that misgendered or deadnamed a person โ€œpurposefully.โ€ It wouldn't remove them.

Right-wingers, like Libs of TikTok and Tim Pool, frantically tweeted Elon Musk to reverse the policy. So today, the policy has been updated to only apply in jurisdictions where it is required by law.

New radar imaging by ESA's Mars Express mission strongly suggests that a vast amount of ice, up to 3.7 km thick, lies beneath the surface near the equator. The ice if melted would cover Mars with an ocean 2.7 m deep.

Layers of ice and dust lie below a crust of hardened ash and dust 100s of meters thick.

The deposits are located in the Medusae Fossae Formation, a large geological formation ~5,000 km along the equator. See maps below.

I mean, with climate change we're going to NEED big-ass container ships that can go really fast, just to move food around between regions hit by drought/crop failure. And nuclear is obviously a smart bet (because it's carbon-neutral), and for a half-million-ton ship it's even reasonable. But why pick a fuel cycle that lends itself to weapons proliferation?

hittitezombie,
@hittitezombie@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@cstross Do we need ultra-big container ships? At some point loading/loading will take more time than at sea, or a significant fraction.

We should be looking at when the size is optimum, especially for intercontinental transfers, and then look for a suitable power source?
