No they shouldn't. That's exactly why they use stable: so things don't break unexpectedly and they can work on problems that they want/need to work on.

Is sleeping on the floor good for your back. I'm not a scientist or anything, but I've slept on the floor many times since I first had children, and not once has it ever made my back feel BETTER.

“Another difference is that ancient people got more physical activity throughout the day, a lifestyle that may have helped prevent pain despite ground sleeping.”

This is the crux. I've been sleeping on a 1.5 cm thick yoga mat for over a month. I feel more in tune with my body, incentivised to exercise and not sit. Being a skateboarder most people assume it is unhealthy and causes injuries. False. All my back injuries happened because of sitting too much.

I have been using Thinkpads for years and been using Trackpoints. I love the technology, but we getting a bit of strain in my fingers, so wanted to try something else, so using a laptop with a touchpad instead. Finding that I kept clicking things by mistake. Thought there was something wrong with my laptop, but then found there was a setting for clicking things my mistake and it was called "Tap to click" and a similar one for right clicking. Both were on by default.

I guess I am one of those that prefers to click when I want to click and not have a slight touch of the touchpad register as a click. The touchpad has to differentiate between clicking, scrolling, moving, etc., so having everything with the same level of pressure seems likely to lead to mistakes.

What about you? Do you enable tap to click?

stardust,
@stardust@fosstodon.org avatar

@jon isn't there an option that disables the touchpad while typing? Best of both worlds.

When urban renewal goes wrong: Inside a dead mall frozen in 1990.

Very interesting short film by Bright Sun Films. Along with the usual urban exploration bits, he gives a good history of how and why it failed.

The shopping centre was supposed to revitalise downtown Hamilton, Ontario.

But within six years, it had just a 40% occupancy rate.

A decade after opening, it sold for only CAN$3.6 million — just 5% of what it originally cost to build.

I'm personally offended by my IT class having a section titled "Command Line Network Utilities" with a thumbnail showing a hard drive with the cover removed exposing the platters and "chkdsk" above it followed by green text saying "Error Fixed".

Two things.

  1. chkdsk isn't a network utility.
  2. You can run chkdsk until the stars burn out, but it's never going to fix a hard drive with the platters open to the world. Just isn't going to happen.

There are different aspects of Vivaldi that can catch the user's eye. 👀

Which one is more important to you? What made you stay? 😊

stardust,
@stardust@fosstodon.org avatar

@Vivaldi
In a void Vivaldi's strength is obviously the features/customization [customization is a feature], but ultimately, if Vivaldi's ethical stronghold were to succumb, I wouldn't hesitate to forego on the by now indispensable features, however hard it may be.
