I feel like the way #Nostr does apps is superior to how we do it in the #Fediverse.
This isn’t to say that Nostr apps are inherently better. Some Mastodon apps have an incredible amount of polish, and extremely creative features.
Nostr’s standardization on identity and credentials and appended data is really, really good, though. Everything I sign into just works. Whereas, as a Non-Mastodon user with partial MastoAPI support, that isn’t always the case. I often have to cross my fingers and hope it works.
I know, I know, I’m banging on an old drum again. But, I feel like Nostr’s way of doing things is like a sneak peak of what might have been possible with ActivityPub C2S.
We should totally steal these ideas, and turn them into a FEP.

The cost of handing all of the media is THE major problem for me atm.
@shlee@Tubsta@decryption almost all colo providers will charge the same for IX / transit traffic. You are effectively buying at a “blended rate”. Transit is now so cheap that unless you are doing more than 1 gig/s sustained it is not worth getting your own ASN and ip range. At the current trend I’d even suggest not bothering below 10 gig/s.
I’ve built a few ISPs and colo networks over the years, I’d be happy to sit down with you and run through the economics of transit , peering and the different price points where changes in network design makes sense.

More engagement and less distraction, posts on platforms like Bubbles or Station aren't meant to consume are just people talking to each other, no links to videos, pictures or memes... It is just text inside the gorgeous frame of #Lagrange and each platform is so well integrated into this amazing client, whether is the desktop or the android version, that your experience feels like with native applications... This is just amazing...
I actually have no idea how many boosts and favs some of the most successful posts get here in the Fediverse, because my instance shows a fraction of them no matter how successful they are. But guess what? I don’t care! It’s the best part here, to effectively unlearn that like-craving social media trait.
Everyone likes ”likes”, but in here it happens in our own terms and overall the metrics don’t really matter in the end.
@rolle You bring up an excellent point here “to effectively unlearn…” Part of the Fediverse experience is that unlearning, or possibly, return to an open platform that is not ruled by algorithms or simple rhetoric. Isn’t a voice still a voice even if there is minimal response? It probably isn’t from a lack of not being read. The fact of your ability to reflect and post something has value.

@underlap@massonpj The EU's updated Product Liability Directive has already extended liability to software in all EU countries (at least when the directive is transposed to national law, about 2-3 years). A contract cannot exempt you from having to obey this or any other law. So yes, when it happens the US law will override the license in the US too. @osi will be offering relevant advice to help legislators avoid harm to #OpenSource as we did in the EU.
