The Federal Trade Commission has voted 3-2 along party lines to ban new noncompete agreements and make most existing agreements non-enforceable for everyone other than senior executives. FTC Chair Lina Khan says lifting the ban will allow workers the “freedom to change jobs,” which “is core to economic liberty.” The decision is expected to be challenged by the Chamber of Commerce, which argues noncompete agreements protect trade secrets. A new bill from #SanFrancisco Assembly Member #MattHaney would clearly outline when companies can communicate w/their #employees during off hrs, following other countries that have passed “right to disconnect” #laws.

Right now #AI is a bit like the promising intern who gets promoted far too quickly, basically because he's cheaper than other #employees higher up the pecking order. He or she hasn't proven his or her worth, churns out questionable and uncritical content but for the most part is free to use.
