HAPPY ART SHOW SUNDAY!

Drop a picture, video, link or toot of something you created, in the comments section. Anything goes, just have fun with it!

It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done.

Warum #Mastodon?

Ich beobachte aktuell eine große Wanderung von Twitter zu #Bluesky. Vor allem der aktive Kern der Twitterer zieht dahin um.

Mein Frage an Euch: Warum Mastodon und keine der anderen Alternativen?

@joenepraat @dansup @stux Yes, we're aware, and will be helping build their mobile app!

Test of the random (free) #Tascam recorder from the city Material Reuse center today. The sound of cool water inside of my #aquaponics system (albeit... just growing #goldfish, who are mostly fertilizing #mint. Anyone need mint? It goes nuts in aquaponics, mint julep for everyone!)

Remember Vine?

Twitter bought it and shut it down wasting $30 million dollars

Years later a same sort app comes to market with way worse privacy issues called TikTok

Big tech buying everything ruins so much potential

euromec,

@stux How are you getting on with Goldfish?

Don't get me wrong, I love Mastodon and everything it's done for the fediverse

That being said, I don't want Loops to become the only short form video platform, or the only well known one

I'm working with @stux on his own short vid platform called and PeerTube to enable seamless interop

We're stronger and better together

There is no reason NOT to work with "competitors" because when you have the right mindset and goals:

You build for the people, and listen wisely.

@dansup@mastodon.social avatar

Loops are for short duration videos (max 30 seconds) and is a separate app/platform from Pixelfed.

We're also working with @stux and his project so the fediverse will have many options to choose from.

Loops is more like Vine, simple and short, for longer videos we think Goldfish and/or PeerTube can meet your needs.

This is the amazing thing about the fediverse, instead of competing with Goldfish, I'm mentoring/helping them.

In the fediverse, we all win, no matter the platform.

🚀

dansup,
@dansup@mastodon.social avatar

@stux I'm so pumped for and being able to help you build this out.

This really is a shining example of the collaboration that is possible in the fediverse.

Fuck competition, Loops + Goldfish are family and will have features and opportunities that are unique to such an open and decentralized platform.

Collaboration is key, we can show the internet how it's done properly, and make history together ❤️

A bunch of collaborators interviewed for this story about one of my co-workers at the Great Lakes Laboratory for Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. During electrofishing surveys of Harbour, Christine Boston regularly catches *huge which had been released when they outgrew people's home aquariums. They disturb plants and littoral areas and have no predators because nothing can eat them.

If there are any other developers working on a TikTok like platform for the fediverse:

Maybe we can join forces and work together with Loops, and if not, lets keep in touch so we can work on compatibility?

I'm already working closely with @stux on , which is shaping up to be a serious fedi TikTok contender!

@dansup @stux I believe right now it’s just as far as I’ve come across. Still three potential alternatives on is 🔥.

I honestly do feel guilty about @loops success when just a week before I reached out to @stux and offered my help to build a mobile app for GoldFish

I don't want him to lose interest in and all the hard work he's put into learning front and backend development

I stick by my word and will write a basic GoldFish app and teach him native app dev and he'll be one of those unstoppable fedi devs in no time 😎

    Collaboration > Competition

    ❤️

@loops Just had a really nice and productive chat with @stux

We're on the same page and will be working together to build out our short video vision across our platforms

So we officially have a alternative: @loops.

I actually thought about building a libre reimplementation of TikTok’s video editor, but abandoned that after realizing how much I hate TikTok.

Hopefully Loops - and , another planned alternative - won’t end up as bad, and won’t be as fucking brain-dead, even if not intelligent (social media in general, and TikTok in particular, cannot be intelligent).
