Today marks fifty years since DJ Kool Herc's first party at 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx - widely credited as the kickstart for Hip-Hop. Herc's innovation was not even playing the whole of a record, but isolating the "break", where the rhythm section took centre stage and made the dancers (B-boys, as they would come to be known) get wild!

I love all forms but particularly #heavymetal#shoegaze#krautrock#progrock#jazz#hiphop#hardcore. All forms of #metal really & I love #horrormovies

Here it is, my top 20 albums of 2023. It's not ALL metal, although there's a lot of metal. I know not everyone likes metal (or brutal death metal) - but there's some rap, some punk, a little post punk- actually, my top 3 here are all non-metal.
As always, let me know your thoughts, especially if you check some of them out, or already have.
Okay let's listen to some great music by women bc there sure is a lot of it
We'll start with a few of my favorite current artists in different genres. First up is Noname and her second Tiny Desk concert. Her album Sundial was one of my couple favorites last year in any style.
Which of the following musical artists has the greatest "albums per year" ratio? By that, I mean, the number of full length studio albums (excluding live albums, collabs, or compilations) recorded over the number of years they have been or were actively a recording artist or band.
Vote now!
The ratios will be posted tomorrow after the poll is closed.
What he said didn't really explain much. He says he's frustrated but this is irresponsible. It shouldn't be that hard to see what voting for Trump would mean for you and for the people in your community. Trump has said it and attempted it and it ain't good. If you know people that feel this way, talk to them, fill in the gaps

Grandmaster Flash's 1982 track "the Message" is often hailed as the first conscious or political rap. Flash and his crew were involved in the rap in name only, but that's another story. Really sick track! But then two days ago I heard this gem dropped in 1980 "How We Gonna Make the Black Nation Rise?" by Brother D. Check it! #HipHop https://yewtu.be/watch?v=S-HQR2-s1J4
"Racontée par ses grandes figures, des activistes et des historiens, l’épopée du hip-hop depuis cinquante ans. Cette fresque documentée à l’intense énergie met en regard l’histoire de l’Amérique et celle des luttes afro-américaines"
One more entry for @loewe's #MusicWomenWednesday - I stumbled across this on bandcamp's best hip-hop albums 2023 listing. H31R is rapper maassai and producer JWords. HeadSpace is their second studio album 🎶
