The NeoVibe.app instance has been slowly growing. However, one thing I want to make sure of, is that the instance doesn't become too big.
The power of the #fediverse & software like #mastodon is to have smaller instances spread out. We've seen what happens when instances get too big when run by a small team. 😔
I think a 1000 - 5000 member instance is the stopping point for myself before I would pause registration. As #mastoadmin we should make the Fedi as enjoyable as we can for those here.
#Threads is probably the most popular social media app that’s divorced from anything interesting, informative, or insightful. It’s like that 5min ad break during your TV programming. Looking at this screen capture makes my stomach uncomfortable.
The dutch government now has an official Mastodon instance, this gives government organisations and institutions the chance to have an official account in the fediverse. The instance is not for all citizens wanting to join Mastodon. Visto che c'è parecchia confusione sull'arrivo del social #Threads nel fediverso ho tradotto il messaggio del CEO di #mastodon che spiega chiaramente quanto accadrà a breve senza sensazionalismi e basandosi sui fatti:

Oh wow! I don't know when this happened, but now #hachyderm, the #Mastodon instance I'm on, has a #translate button for posts written in a language different than my interface language (only web, not via app).
It's important to highlight "interface language" because I keep mine in English, and I see #translation from German/Czech/Portuguese to English, but if I change my interface to Portuguese, I see English posts translated as well.

Sometimes I wonder why academics aren't stampeding from corporate social media to Mastodon, and then I remember: these are the same people that give corporations their work for free to be sold back to them at extortionate prices, and then measure their value on how often they do that.
Soundcloud is filled with artists all trying to be heard, looking for their audiences. It’s difficult, and can be disheartening when you put yourself out there, when you feel as though you’re unable to get any traction. Some give up, leaving digital memorials of their musical dreams across the site. Others press on, digitally busking in a cacophony of a million other bedroom performers and creators.
If you're new to Mastodon, remember there is no algorithm here. It takes a little bit of effort to find people that interest you. Search for hashtags and use hashtags in your posts. Hashtags are very important here.
Don't spend 5 minutes looking around and give up. Take some more time to get good content in your timeline and you'll have a much better experience. This place is what you make it. You're in control.
Build your own #TweetDeck with #Emacs... as a split frame, where every window has a buffer with one of #mastodonel's timelines, tags etc. Leveraging Emacs' abilty to further split w a window hichever way one might prefer. I set this as a seperate tab, to which I can switch when I need to.
Drafting and researching in emacs, while tooting or searching from the same UI, is incredibly efficient. The second screenshot shows #emacsdoom's built-in lookup service used to search the thing-at-point/selection from within a mastodonel buffer, as I would from any buffer.
Threads feels like a crowded space full of boomboxes… lots of people talking, but none talking with you. After testing the true #Fediverse, it is really odd…
