we are house-sitting for the in-laws, and they have amazon prime logged in on their TV. finally trying out ! watched ep1 last night and excited to get through more of it this weekend.

i might be able to get the account password from mother-in-law, but i really don’t want to get my own subscription or support amazon in general… is there another way to watch without uh, sailing the seven seas?

I need your help . One of the classes I'm taking at the graduate level this semester is Religion & Science Fiction. I read more fantasy, and would like to do my research paper on something that's not obvious (like ST/BS5/Matrix/etc.) & I'd love to use more modern sf rather than the golden age classics.

Anyone have any interesting ideas for my research paper on regarding the intersection of religion and science fiction?

I need some new science fiction to read, who has some suggestions? I don't like military sci-fi. For reference, my favorite series is the Expanse, I also enjoyed Scalzi's Collapsing Empire, I love Robert Charles Wilson's books. I mostly enjoy space operas and unique stories about technology, for example I really liked the recent book Mountain in the Sea about AI and intelligent octopus. Suggestions from the awesome Bookstodon community? @bookstodon

In ONE HOUR returns! Every Sunday at 9pm EST we watch a monster movie and toot about it! If that sounds annoying, prepare to filter the hashtag.

This week we're watching THE SHAPE OF THINGS TO COME (1979)! Jack Palance is in this? Is Palance to TSoTtC as Plummer was to Starcrash? Only time will tell!

It's free to watch on Tubi, or you can download it over at Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/TheShapeOfThingsToCome19791_20160204

Folks in a little under an hour your dash will be overtaken by a flood of movie-related commentary that we like to call , your weekly monster movie watch-along party. If that sounds irritating I suggest setting up a block for the hashtag in your Preferences page.

But if you'd like to join us, we're watching IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE (1953), which you can find on Tubi or over on Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/it-came-from-outer-space-1953-colorized

Folks, it is an hour until #MONSTERDON, the weekly monster movie watch party.

This week we're watching KINGDOM OF THE SPIDERS (1977), which features William Shatner and about 5,000 spiders. If either of those things is a problem for you, I heartily recommend filtering this hashtag, which can be done in your Preferences.

If you'd like to join in, you can find the movie on Tubi and Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/KingdomOfSpiders

We start at 9pm Eastern!

It's 8pm Eastern which means there's only one hour left until , your weekly monster movie watch party. If you don't want your timeline full of toots about a goofy old flick, set up a filter while you can.

This week we're watching LOGAN'S RUN (1976), a sci fi thing about a dystopia that kills you at 30. Jack Weinberg, dictator?

Anyway we start at 9pm Eastern, and you can follow along on Tubi or Archive.org: https://archive.org/details/LogansRunMovie

The Penultimate Truth
Philip K. Dick

Part of the SF Masterworks Collection. Despite being nearly 60 years old the narrative around the manipulation of the truth feels incredibly prescient. Wondering whether David Whitaker had read it before he came up with story The Enemy of the World.

As "Doctor Who" turns 60, it's time to pose that perennial question: Who is the best Doctor of them all? The BBC asked five fans to make their arguments. But which of this quintet do you think is the greatest? Tell us in the comments if your pick isn't on the list (we're fans of Christopher Eccleston).

Jan 1: What are your writing related New Year Resolutions?

I don't really do resolutions, but let's try this: I'll actually send my work out more this year. Get serious and make a list of agents, and just go through the list.

Sounds good?

I contend that if Space:1999 had writing on a par with its art direction, costuming, and casting, it would still be a going concern while Star Trek would be a quaintly amusing curiosity of its time like Lost In Space. Oy vey, that writing, though, especially that second season.

I bet a few of you don’t know that I made a short sci-fi film!

It’s about six minutes long and follows Kes, a cyberpunk cyborg, and her best friend, Rover, a robotic puppy car!!

Goddammit season 2 of Foundations is great. I'm annoyed at the end of every episode because it's the end of the episode. Only one more to go, and the suspense is killing me. Please don't let it be another two years until the continuation!
