Ok peeps, we're 4 months into 2024 and I've been without work this whole time so we're going to try this again. If you know of any senior software engineering positions that are actually being hired for, please drop them below.
I have 12 cumulative years of experience, so that shouldn't be an issue, and I know most of the languages in use nowadays well enough to be dangerous, but I am extremely proficient in TypeScript, Python, and Ruby. What I'd rather do more than anything though is have an opportunity to use Go professionally.
After lurking since 2021, here's my belated #introduction.
I'm James, from the #uk though I don't feel strongly about nationality. I'm He/Him/They. Also a father and #softwareengineer
I come here to understand what's going on in the world, especially #climatechange, #degrowth and #permacomputing without the filter of mainstream media or techbro algorithms.

I wonder if anyone here can help. I live in #Canada and one of my cousins lives in Argentina. His son Tomas is working there as a #Developer after graduating as a #SoftwareEngineer. The #Jobs situation in Argentina is once again very unstable and Tomas reached out to ask if I had any contacts, anywhere in the world, that might help him apply for a #RemoteJob.
I can't imagine a better group of people to ask this question to than the folks here on Mastodon. Thanks a bunch in advance.
We're looking for someone to work on the rapidly-developing #ML workflows being created within the #DestinationEarth initiative, ensuring they're well integrated into existing software infrastructure, developing the processes for testing/validation of changes before operational deployment, supporting operational running.
Watching the BBC Panorama episode about the Post Office Horizon IT Scandal, I feel so so sorry for those who got caught up in an awful buggy system, and especially to those who took their own lives because of it.
For anyone who is a software developer, please watch the documentary. You need to realise that the software you write can actually impact people in negative ways.
The mind of a software engineer has two edges; one with which we interpret incomprehensible systems to wield them, and the other which makes us unable to empathize with users who must also comprehend these systems.
I am an aspiring software engineer with a personal interest in indie game development.
I am into DND but currently without a group but I am hoping to meet some people in a tavern really soon. I am also interested in trying out other TTRPGs.
I love board games. My favourites are Codenames, Catan, Hanabi and Ticket to Ride. I also love social deduction games and any party/group games.

And the #SoftwareEngineer side of me grinned when what looks like a Git revision hash and possibly a tag name turned up in the RailEasy/Trainsplit page footer. It's cute to spot stuff like this :)
Dead bird site refugee looking for a home. I've been on the internet for a long long time but looking for the positivity in the world. Let's make this place a good one.
