i really like cities skylines and city games in general. one thing that really galls me is: a) they released a dlc a year or two back called plazas and promenades that basically lets you make almost entirely car-free cities in the game b) youtubers that play the game basically still just make north american stroad hell in every city
have some imagination, inspire some people. you can literally just not recreate the worst fucking capitalist hellzone on earth in your game videos
The other thing that is really shitty about cities skylines is that if you don't build police stations crime happens and then things start to go derelict.
Like I've fully funded schools, have parks on every block, public transit is everywhere and free, there is plentiful jobs, i do not want or need the police
:acab:
anyway if anyone has a workshop link for like 'anarchist community defence club' or 'john brown gun club' that shows up in the police menu, hmu
#CitiesSkylines YouTube has given me the impression that there’s some manner of comedy feud between civil engineers/planners and architects.
Anyone out there work in these fields who can confirm or deny? If this is a real thing, I feel like I need to know all about it. Is it like “protractors at dawn, you cad!”?

The #FuckCars folks will be happy - in #CitiesSkylines, I have set the speed limit for trams to 200 km/h no matter if they’re on dedicated track or street-running. The maximum speed all other street traffic can travel is 70 km/h. The tram is almost 3x faster.
I was really looking forward to playing #CitiesSkylines Two in the fall, but #Paradox only announced Windows and console versions with Mac maybe or maybe not coming sometime in the future…
The Cities Skylines 2 map size is smaller than you might have expected, with building sim dev Colossal Order highlighting a “typo” in Xbox's recent blog.
I wrote about why #DX12 support and the #GamePortingToolkit is the biggest thing to happen to gaming on the #Mac in more than 30 years for Inverse! I stad by this -- even if it remains a niche/developer centric tool, the community has already proved that this is a big deal. I hope to see this integrated with Steam for Apple silicon Macs in the fall. https://www.inverse.com/tech/mac-directx-12-game-porting-toolkit-pc-games
The one game I enjoy playing (#citiesskylines ) has a sequel pending, but only with Windows and console support at launch. I hope the timing of the toolkit might mean they consider porting to both Mac and #SteamDeck. I know my M1 Max laptop can handle it.
These Skylines streams have gotten a warm reception over the past weeks — so tonight is our first in a new WEEKLY series of city-building every Thursday!
The people demanded a fuckton of new shopping areas so I converted a bunch of industrial areas that were too close to the city center, and now the shops are complaining that I'm not manufacturing enough goods and they've got nothing to sell. So now the city's full of abandoned shops and I keep bulldozing the buildings next to them by mistake 💀 #citiesskylines
A bit late, but here's my Stream Schedule for this week! Times in UTC+1.
:twitch: Wednesday, 26 April @ 20:30 - Warzone 2.0
:twitch: Friday, 28 April @ 20:30 - RimWorld
:twitch: Sunday, 30 April @ 20:30 - Cities: Skylines
Adding a bit of variety this week! Going to be checking out RimWorld! Never played it before, although I may play a little bit off stream before Friday. 😅
Hi, I'm clearly new here, so here's an #introduction.
I'm Ariel, I'm 23 years old and I'm a #queer#autistic shitlord (shitlady? Fuck it, abolish the aristocracy, I'm a shit-talking #anarchist) with #adhd. Pronouns she/her.
Pastimes include #gaming and other media consumption, tinkering with my PC (usually trying to fix whatever's gone wrong with my #linux build this time, because I have to fucking clue what I'm doing) and with my #mechanicalkeyboard, saying silly things online and making random vocal stims at my girlfriend.
Interests include #tech, urban planning (actually I really just like #trains, #Walkability, and #citiesskylines) and petty online discourse, except for all the times I think it's beneath me.
Greetings, folks! I've recently moved from [redacted, old news] to this account! Since I can't move my old posts, I'm re-doing my introduction.
I'm a forty-something wife and mother of none, living left of nowhere and north of most of the rest of the population of Canada. I have three dogs, a cat, and a Volkswagen LongGolf, all of which I love dearly.
