I've started a new job earlier this month. I now work on and for #Radicle , a distributed git hosting system and peer-to-peer code collaboration system. I'll be working on continuous integration support.
It's open source and written in Rust, and is making git be #distributed again.

It focuses on instances instead of nomadic/unattached actors/messages, from which all of this then flows and cannot really be fixed without addressing that root cause.
Last night and this morning pulled together Python code to allow me to make a local archive of Wikipedia pages. Started with the Level 4 Vital articles, and now adding code which pulls in the top 100 most viewed articles each day. We'll see how it progresses. Been a fun little diversion.
@trick#Wikipedia seems like the kind of website that would be great to have #replicated across the #internet. Like, everyone has a small piece of it stored on their device and a lot of people share some of the same pieces, just in case. Every time you connect to the internet, your device checks to see if your piece has been update in the official, centralized system. If an update is required and your device's MAC address mod 12 is this month (zero-indexed), it updates. This type of #distributed system allows for rolling updates, preserving some history in the event of an attack on the central system.

I have been diagnosed with Retinitus Pigmentosa, which is a disease of progressive retinal degeneration. I am legally blind, although I have about 5-degrees of vision remaining in my fovea. I'm interested in researching and developing BCIs (Brain-Computer Interfaces), specifically BCIs that function as vision prostheses that may help with conditions like RP, or the more common degenerative retinal disease AMD (Age-related Macular Degeneration).

I wonder if anybody has thought about building a fully #distributed#socialNetwork based on a #DHT such as #kademlia. I'm guessing adding support for a protocol based on this (I2P, IPFS or whatever) on any other distributed SN might do it?

I have #Manyverse installed — I love the concept, the execution, and the idea of the distributed tech behind it (public key signed posts that you get directly from their app, or from a follower who’s stored them; no ‘server’) but … it’s a ghost town for me, cos no-one I know uses it!
