Signs on the entrance to playgrounds suggesting I 'respect the sabbath' only inspire a further respect for humanism. And a desire to be rid of a mythology that has been and is used to control others
Waiting for a new episode? Slingshot around the sun and listen to our conversation with Eugene “Rod” Roddenberry, Jr. as we discuss growing up Roddenberry, humanism and the values of Star Trek, carrying the Star Trek legacy, respecting viewpoint diversity and breaking down silos, and even wokeness.
In the past, during the era of Flash®, I used to think that interactivity couldn't evoke the same emotions as other forms of media. I believed that making rational decisions during interactive experiences hindered emotional connection, except for games which had a unique narrative-driven mechanic 🤷

However, my perspective changed after using the Vision Pro. Now, I consider it one of the most emotionally impactful platforms I've encountered. Its ability to evoke feelings is largely produced by the way it represents distance and scale. Space connects directly to your emotions, making the act of interaction feel natural and not rational. Spatial computing is a medium flooded with emotivity ❣︎

"Okay, here's the scenario. You are a crew member on a starship."
"Cool."
"Space travel is slow, you'll be stuck with your crewmates a long time."
"So we must get along."
"Yes. Communicate, listen, share limited resources."
"I can do that. What's the starship called?"
"Earth."
In January 1965, Time Magazine called him “The Atheist Rabbi.” While Wine was indeed an atheist, he was more apt to call himself an “ignostic.” By any name, his non-theism is a centerpiece of the approach that he crafted.
Plagued by unrelenting shame for “normal” activities like masturbation, sex, or enjoying time doing nothing? SHAME IS OFTEN FUNDAMENTALIST RESIDUE. Wipe that sh!t off your shoe and give FREEDOM a try. Start small & work your way up to Big Ticket items. Life is a grand buffet - don’t starve to death because of religion. #ReligiousTrauma#shame#fundamentalism#suffering#freedom#humanism#joy#exchristian#explore
I've been trying to find the right way to articulate this-- but the folks on the right have it backwards about who is driven by "white guilt" --
This impulse to cover up and distort the history of slavery reeks of shame. It's, frankly, weird. Nobody has perfect ancestors, what sort of crisis of identity leads one to lie about the past.
It's just the things that happened. You learn about them you learn from them. You do better. Don't make it so emotional and personal.
The feeling of union with the Eternal is shared by all who visit that place “placed under the open sky and accessible to the poorest of the poor” (Mahatma Gandhi).
"In a sweeping 60-page decision issued yesterday, a federal judge ruled in favor of Andrew Miller, an atheist and Secular Humanist, who has been forced to participate in religious substance abuse treatment activities as a condition for his parole."
Yet another reason I'm not getting much writing done this evening: a truckers' convoy promoting local labour and celebrating the industry this weekend.
It's fascinating to see the US lately develop more class consciousness via recent strike/union actions, while living in a world region with a very different history of the same.
We have so much to learn from each other internationally.
Did you know that the dunce cap was once a sign of intellect?
Duns Scotia was a 13th c. #scholar. He was known for his (very) subtle distinctions on topics such as the immaculate conception of Mary & the individuation of things.
After #Renaissance#humanism took hold (& its idea to do away with #medieval complexities in #theology), the once celebrated followers of Scotism (“Dunses”), were now seen as pedantic & unintellectual.

The more you understand about any religion the quicker you realise that all believe in mysterious gods or the like is stupid.
