Die EU-Kommission fühlt Meta auf den Zahn: Der Facebook-Mutterkonzern steht im Verdacht, nicht ausreichend gegen Falschinformationen auf seinen Plattformen vorzugehen. Deshalb leitete die Kommission ein Verfahren ein.

Edit: it has been suggested that legal responsibility should only apply to content “promoted” by platforms. That seems to be an excellent improvement.

“You could imagine an extension to the protocol eventually — of saying like, ‘I want to support micropayments,’ or … like, ‘hey, feel free to show me ads, if that supports you.’ Kind of like a way for you to self-label or self-opt-in. That would be great,” Cottle noted, speaking casually. Whether or not Meta would find a way to get a cut of those micropayments, of course, remains to be seen.
Some folks on here really went to bat for #Meta to join the #Fediverse including the creator of #activityPub (who also ranted unhinged while twirling his moustache that all Twitter users are evil - when Musk had just bought the place)

Nach meiner Ankündigung Ende April habe ich heute meine Accounts bei #WhatsApp und bei #Facebook zur "Löschung" beantragt.
Schön, dass mir #Meta nach gefühlten 4000 Klicks nochmal eine Bedenkzeit von 30 Tagen einberäumt, bis mein Account verschwunden ist. Dass die irgendwas löschen, können sie gerne dem SantaClaus erzählen, wenn sie ihn treffen.
Ein weiterer Schritt weg von #Bigtech - ein weiterer Schritt hin zu mehr Selbstbestimmung.
