#Bridgy became quietly available for people to test, but as bridged posts started to appear, other people became aware and more people started to test and use the bridge.

Witnessing another occurrrence of the #ReplyGuy anti-pattern this morning inspired me to write some thoughts about this social behavior that is so common on our #Fediverse that is based on #PublicSquare#Microblogging mechanics.
On the #SocialCoding forum I created a category for #SocialExperienceDesign (or #SX) patterns, and the "Reply Guy" #AntiPattern is the first entry in what might be turned into a pattern library collection.
Pray that the Beneath the Tangles microblogging ministries (Twitter, Mastodon, and Threads) will engage our community and point them toward content that honors Christ.
Mastodon users can now share their profiles via QR code on Android
'Decentralized social network Mastodon has updated its official app for Android to let users easily share their profiles with QR codes. This could be useful in loud places like event and hotel lobbies to exchange profiles, the company said in a blog post'
Threads will allow you to follow Mastodon users by year-end, according to Meta meeting details
'Threads’ roadmap for integrations with the fediverse, aka the network of decentralized apps that includes Twitter/X rival Mastodon and others, has been revealed'
Threads is officially starting to test ActivityPub integration
'Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on Threads that the platform is beginning to test making Threads posts available on Mastodon and other ActivityPub-supporting services'
A lot of people get annoyed by #Mastodon because of its lack of features.
I get annoyed because alternative #Fediverse software gets shafted when it comes to apps and other services.
Sure, these alternatives can integrate the Mastodon #API but that means, if they have more features than Mastodon, they will get bottlenecked when it comes down to the Mastodon apps.
Take #Iceshrimp, a fork of #Firefish in the #Misskey lineage, it (like the other Misskey forks) has a lot more bells and whistles than Mastodon, such as the Drive (for better attachment and file use) and MfM (Misskey-flavoured #Markdown).
If I want to take advantage of any of that, I either have to go to the PWA of my instance, which is not the best on mobile, or find one of the few native Misskey apps on #iOS.
I would much rather not Mastodon have a monopoly on the Fediverse but hey, it already seems to considering all the fucking articles by the major online news sources not even blinking at the mention or focus of alternatives, bar Meta Threads and Wordpress.
It is turning into or already has turned into centralisation by proxy due to the one single lead in a sea of creativity and untapped potential.
We are all in this together, we need to build better infrastructure for other software.
#Pixelfed, as a photo-based social platform, isn't affected by this issue. This goes for any of the other types of software besides #Microblogging.
differences between threadiverse folks and microbloggers on the fedi:
microbloggers boost a lot, but that's not big on the threadiverse
microbloggers tend not to like anything - neither the posts they keep boosting nor the replies to their own posts - whereas this is absolutely common on the threadiverse
microbloggers tend not to reply - whereas on the threadiverse, this keeps happening all the time
Bluesky says it will allow users to opt out of the public web interface after backlash
'Last month, the company announced its decentralized alternative to Twitter/X would soon open up a public web interface allowing anyone to view the posts on its platform, even if they didn’t have an invite to the app, which remains in a closed beta.'
With Twitter and Mastodon, I feel like what accounts I follow never seem to be in Home (timeline) while what I don't want to see is deemed interesting for me. #microblogging
I was recently talking to Jatan Mehta about #microblogging vs traditional #blogging, and what should go where. I thought it was an interesting conversation, so decided to share my opinions.
Spannend, was seither daraus geworden ist.
Feel free to join. We support up to 10k post characters and offer both MastodonBirdUI and TangerineUI.
Also, we have not yet reached our funding goal, currently at 15/100$. If you appreciate what we're doing, please consider contributing a few bucks. It makes a significant difference!
