Why is so little known about the 1930s #coup attempt against FDR?
Most of us likely recognize the names of the elite behind the coup attempt: JP Morgan, Jr, Irénée du Pont, Robert Sterling Clark of the Singer sewing machine fortune, and the chief executives of General Motors, Birds Eye and General Foods. It would have served America best if they had all been tried for #treason and possibly executed. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jan/11/trump-fdr-roosevelt-coup-attempt-1930s
"US Supreme Court strikes down effort to disqualify Trump from Colorado primary election"
It is hardly surprising that a federal Supreme Court has ruled that only a federal Congress can block election candidates who have violated the constitution. With a federal Congress dominated by representatives of low moral worth, it does, however, suggest that treason is no bar to holding presidential office in America.
I guess this goes to show that all democracies are flawed to some degree.
If Trump is de facto immune, well then SO IS BIDEN. Time to start acting accordingly, President For Life Biden. 🤷🏽 This what they want. Give it to them.
At some point we have to talk about how Julius and Ethel Rosenberg were executed for far less than what Trump and his Republicans did and are still actively doing.
Trump stole classified intelligence information and shared it with adversaries of the United States.
Once upon a time a US general during the revolutionary war did the same thing and his name became synonymous with the word traitor and treason. Benedict Arnold was his name.
I think Trump has earned the name Benedict Donald. #BenedictDonald#BenedictArnold#Treason#MAGA#Trump#Traitor#FuckTrump#MAGAt#AntiFascism#TrumpForPrison#Tre45on
"This is objectively correct.Trump is the very worst—the actual bottom of the barrel—of the human beings our country has birthed. You can tell me that he is tied with some others ...Manson, Dahmer, and but as a Trump biographer I’m not going to have any difficulty arguing that no one exceeds Trump in being despicable. Keep in mind that the death toll from his actions during the pandemic will never be equaled by any serial killer or terrorist because it would be logistically impossible." s.a.
He is responsible for the death of many thousands of Americans.
Donald Trump is a horrid, malignant, narcissistic sociopath. He’s one of the worst exemplars of the human species I’ve ever witnessed. Period.
Let me get this straight. In #Russia a 33 year old #masseuse and ballet student working in a Beverly Hills luxury hotel holding both American and Russian citizenship is arrested for #treason while visiting her family after donating $50 to #Ukraine and supporting them in social media. While in the United States actual treasonists and traitors are elected to Congress and the Presidency.
Today in Labor History February 19, 1807: The authorities arrested former Vice President of the United States Aaron Burr for treason. They alleged that he was behind a plot to create an independent country in the southwest of the U.S., but had to acquit him for lack of evidence. Some believed he intended to take Texas or all of Mexico, but accounts vary as to how many supporters he had (anywhere from 40 to 7,000). In 1808, he traveled to England and attempted to garner support for a revolution in Mexico. The Brits kicked him out of the country. Prior to all this, while still vice president he had killed Alexander Hamilton in an illegal duel. He was never tried and all charges against him were dropped. Gore Vidal wrote an historical novel, “Burr,” written in the form of a memoir by Burr. The novel undoes the traditional hagiographies of America’s founding fathers, portraying them as the greedy, self-serving and often times incompetent men they really were. It was the first in his Narratives of Empire series.
@GottaLaff It's a good sign that this is really all the Rethuglicans have going for them: Biden might put a non-white-non-male in the White House. Meanwhile #RAPE#TREASON#NAZI#NATO#TRUMP
@br00t4c Disappointing. But do you think he can keep viewers by pointing out the race is between a seasoned, dedicated, and amazingly successful career civil servant versus an actual #NAZI#RAPIST#NATO#TREASON#TRUMP
Let’s not act as if it’s normal for the House Speaker* to refuse to allow a vote on critical national-security legislation that has passed in the Senate by a lopsided bipartisan margin of 70-29. Surely he must let the House vote.
It's not just Mike Johnson. Since September 2016, the whole GOP has been working for a foreign enemy.
McConnell knowingly helped Russia attack our election. Trump fired the FBI Director to block a national security investigation. Giuliani ordered a mob hit on a US ambassador. Ron Johnson knowingly collected disinfo from a Kremlin agent. Barr weaponized that disinfo to imprison US national security officials.
1 reason why #Trump's comments about abandoning #NATO matter are, 1st & foremost, bc he ordered GOP to abandon #Ukraine which virtually all near-Ukraine allies think makes them next
He is, in front of our faces, delivering Ukraine up to Putin as a gift.
But the other reason it matters is bc we SAW this call-and-response in '16 & '20, when Trump got help from Russian spies
On Independence Day July 4, 1987 Trump (& Ivana) flew to Moscow, on invitation from USSR ambassador Dubinin (& the KGB), lured by the prospect of building a big hotel in Moscow (30+ years later the illusion of building big in Moscow would still be haunting Donald's clan!).
Only two months after that (recruitment?) trip Trump had a full-page declaration of his published in the New York Times, Washington Post & the Boston Globe, for the first time publicly pursuing the goal to drive wedges between the U.S. & their international allies, pretending worries about financial imbalances.
Then serving the Soviet Union (& indirectly then-communist KGB-janitor Vladimir Putin), today serving Russia & fascist Eurasianism-imperialist Vladimir Putin.
"Trump really has admitted an intent to commit treason should he win reelection and should Russia attack, all because he claims NATO members didn’t spend enough on their militaries. But ever since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, NATO members are now spending far higher on their defense. So why raise this point now, if not to send a clear message to the Kremlin?"
