What #FossilFools like Stephen Blank are unwilling to acknowledge yet is that the reason that it doesn't make any sense to build new fossil fuel infrastructure is because we're rapidly transitioning away from fossil fuels.
It's also quite possible that they are being paid in order to try to help slow down the transition.
Rooftop solar prices in USA fell 3.5% in 2023, are back to pre-pandemic level, and nearing record low of 2021. Solar plus storage is up, with Sunrun saying 48% of its projects are both. Storage prices were down 6.4%
Sunrun and Lowe's teaming up to provide building owners with easier access to DIY options to add solar and batteries is going to really help towards picking up the pace of decarbonization imo. @CommercialSolarGuy
Carbon offsets are not a substitute for cutting emissions. They are a way to buy time until we've all done it and it's not up to big business or governments to get us all to stop burning fossil fuels. That's up to all of us to do as fast as we each possibly can. https://netzeroclimate.org/policies-for-net-zero/net-zero-principles/
Did you know that ten (10) U.S. states get the majority of their electricity without emitting greenhouse gases?
How many states will join the top ten in 2024?
We could have lotteries in the states that are lagging for people that instead of giving them cash if they win would install #solar and #batteries on their homes, barns, yards, offices, or garages that would provide them with clean, free energy.
Did you know that the amount of grid-tied batteries on the U.S. electricity grid is expected to almost double this year?
What can we do to help make these stories on the climate progress we're making get more attention? We know from the way the right side of the aisle succeeds at selling their stories is repeating them over and over and over. I think that we need to talk up climate solutions more.
ACC, backed by Stellantis, Mercedes, and Total, announces the closing of a €4.4 billion debt raising, increasing the funding for the construction of three gigafactories for lithium-ion battery cell production in France, Germany, and Italy, and for R&D. https://www.acc-emotion.com/node/2877 #batteries#ev#evs#energytransition
I did not realise you get rechargeable coin cell batteries such as for the CR2032
I’ve long been using various types of rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, including the 1.5 volt versions, but I’ve just never seen any mention at all about these button/coin cell 3.6V Li-Ion batteries being rechargeable.
Duke Energy to remove Chinese battery giant #CATL from Marine Corps Base
"The decision comes as top U.S. officials warn that hackers linked to the Chinese government are targeting network-linked critical U.S. infrastructure, including the power grid.
Many in the industry say that Chinese #batteries cells themselves do not present serious security concerns.
But communications systems on the batteries could be vulnerable to #hacking."
'Lithium metal batteries could double the range of electric vehicles, but current batteries degrade quickly during operation. Stanford researchers have discovered that you can improve the battery’s cycle life simply by letting it rest for several hours in the discharged state.'
Make no mistake: #oil and power companies will fight HARD against this.
"Recent solar power advances have led #scientists to predict that millions of homes... could go off grid over the coming years [becoming] self-sufficient using just #SolarPanels and batteries."
Researchers at Cornell University have created a lithium battery that can charge in under five minutes, while still delivering a stable performance through repeated “charging and discharging” cycles.
