The Was Founded on Stolen Land—This , Let’s Commit to Returning It

Ah, the Fourth of July. Who doesn't love a good parade, some tasty barbecue, and a stirring fireworks display? The only problem with all that, though, is that it can distract from an essential truth about this nation’s birth: The US was founded on stolen Indigenous land.

This year, let’s commit to returning it.

The Orcadian posted 3 days ago about Council’s Leader seeking “alternative models of governance”. On Radio, James Stockan cited being let down by & .

The alternative models cited were of crown dependency such as Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey or of the Faroe Islands within Denmark & also talked of exploring their nordic connection.

Today multiple papers have printed rubbish like this, it’s dismissive n attempts to humiliate those trying to fix our broken politics.

I long for but you’d think for a nation that feels neglected by its central govt would do better in preventing the same apathy but a govt in feels just as far away & out of touch as .

The challenges & responsibilities of the islands’ councils heavily outweigh those of their mainland counterparts. Things like devolving a tourist tax to councils are minuscule in what is needed to equip those Govts in delivering for & retaining their residents.

It's June 1, 2023. How time flies.

A month from now, we're halfway through 2023, and then it's the holiday season again and 2024.

For now… .

What is June for your country, nation, and/or culture?

youronlyone,
@youronlyone@c.im avatar

On the Historical side of things:

In the , June is the month of the nation from the conqueror (Spaniards). The Philippines then was only the regions of Luzon and Visayas, and were under the control of Spain for 300 years.

There was also an anti-Spanish revolutionary secret society founded on January of 1982 called the «KKK».

What is the «KKK»?

The «KKK» (Baybayin-Tagalog: ᜃᜃᜃ), or «Katipunan» (Baybayin-Tagalog: ᜃᜆᜒᜉᜓᜈᜈ᜕), stands for «Kataástaasan Kagalang-galang na Katipunan ng̃ mg̃á Anak ng Bayan» or «Kataástaasang, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng̃ mg̃á Anak ng Bayan». It translates into English as the «Supreme and Honourable Association of the Children of the Nation».

(In Baybayin-Tagalog, it is written as: «ᜃᜆᜀᜐ᜔ᜆᜀᜐᜈ᜔ ᜃᜄᜎᜅ᜔ᜄᜎᜅ᜔ ᜈ ᜃᜆᜒᜉᜓᜈᜈ᜔ ᜈᜅ᜔ ᜋᜅ ᜀᜈᜃ᜔ ᜈᜅ᜔ ᜊᜌᜈ᜕» or «ᜃᜆᜀᜐ᜔ᜆᜀᜐᜅ᜔ ᜃᜄᜎᜅ᜔ᜄᜎᜅᜅ᜔ ᜃᜆᜒᜉᜓᜈᜈ᜔ ᜈᜅ᜔ ᜋᜅ ᜀᜈᜃ᜔ ᜈᜅ᜔ ᜊᜌᜈ᜕» respectively.)

Attached is the first flag of the «KKK» / «Katipunan».

My for the near future of the

Labour wins the next General Election, either as a majority or as a coalition. Either is possible at this point.

Even the must stupid or malicious members of that government realise that Brexit isn't working and renegotiate trade and other agreements.

We end up with EEA with Schengen or some variations thereof. Better but not perfect.

Independence movements in Scotland and Wales gain momentum quickly and eventually the UK devolves into a federal model, or more likely as separate nations under an EEA / EU type arrangements with local equivalents for mutual defence and cross border cooperation.

We could end up with Scotland and Wales in the full EU, even adopting the Euro which solves a boat load of additional problems.

2035 might look very different than 2025 for the UK.

We believe this film to be an important record of Scottish social history. Its observational style captures natural and spontaneous conversations on the streets and doorsteps of one small town in Scotland during the constitutional crossroads of 2014. There is no other record like it.
