Something a little different for today.

I spent my weekend practicing vintage textures, shading, and halftones. The result: this robot.

I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out, what do you think?

Founnd some time for a bit of benchmarking.

I can draw a vertical strip of the room in about 1/2 a frame, a horizontal strip in a frame (more blocks, lots of overdraw). Some caching helps but it might use too much ram to do a whole room.

These are strips of new blocks to be scolled in. I'm aiming at 25fps, and many rooms won't scroll, so this speed might well be fine. I can look at spreading the draw over a few frames as well.

This year, I bought the entire packs/bundles of #DnD #DOS classics via #Steam as well as #Ultima 1 to 7 via #GOG.

The last time I played most of these were from 1988 to 1996. One or two I played again sometime early 2000s, randomly.

I already started with #ChampionsOfKrynn and #Ultima7 Part 1, and I'm already cheating. ROFL. I mean, the packs made it easy to cheat.

Back in the 90s, we had to use a hex editor like #PCtools. We open the savegame file, search through it through the hex editor, and did our magic.
