Erik the young #Seagull was caught today and needs to go to the vet 🧑🏻⚕️
He cannot use his left leg because of a recent fracture, so he needs to go and have x-rays taken. All bird rehabbing is paid for through donations and from our own pockets since Norway doesn’t do anything to help its wildlife.
If you want to support Erik’s recovery, please consider donating to our #Spleis or through the GoFundMe in our bio 💞
@saffronflight I discovered birds love ball games when I raised a baby seagull. I took a ball with a bell inside to the gull and threw it. It wouldn’t play fetch (too scared to bring the ball back) but it loved chasing it around the room and, when I wasn’t there to throw it around, it would try to do it itself.
I'm slowly going through all my best prints! Soon I'll be onto the terrible ones.
Here's one of my favourite prints from a few years ago: "Between Tides". It is a five colour screenprint, two blues, yellow, brown and transparent black.
It is based on the harbour wall at Mousehole and features boats on the sand, lobster pots and a seagull. Unfortunately I only made 22 of them (I was still learning how to register prints accurately).
The last one travels with us to Cheltenham next Thursday to meet its new owner.
The cry of gulls at twilight is haunting, but not in a frightening way; aching, but not in a sad way -- it tugs deep at our hearts, and as they ascend en masse and take flight, something in our heart rises with them, longing to go where they go, free.
