'When they initially studied this process, [Patricia] Stathatou and [Christos] Athanasiou found that yeast can effectively and rapidly remove trace lead — at challenging initial concentrations below one part per million — from drinking water. Conventional water treatment methods either fail to eliminate lead at these low levels or result in high financial and environmental costs to do so.'

‘Somebody is going to die’ because of polluted rivers

I think that might be a little late. Directly, because people are already being infected and life ‘changing' infections have already occurred, indirectly because people are being scared away from the water.

Russell Brand baptised in Thames

The comedian, who denies allegations of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse, told his followers he felt ‘incredibly blessed’ and ‘nourished’

Given the state of The Thames, I feel that this is appropriate and will not add much to the overall effluent levels in the river.

Toxic dust from tires is flowing into waterways from roads and highways, where it kills some species of salmon and trout.

Assemblymember Papan recently introduced legislation to remove these toxic tire particles before they slip into waterways and kill fish:

The Navy has finally acknowledged what scientists and residents have suspected for years: that toxic groundwater could surface at the Hunters Point Superfund site in SF.

The soil at Hunters Point is contaminated with radioactive material and other toxic substances. That the site could flood from the ground up is terrifying, to say the least!

'Flowers grown on inexpensive floating platforms can help clean polluted waterways, over 12 weeks extracting 52% more phosphorus and 36% more nitrogen than the natural nitrogen cycle removes from untreated water, according to our new research. In addition to filtering water, the cut flowers can generate income via the multibillion-dollar floral market.'
