I've been on a fun deep dive today. I have a friend who's certainly at risk of falling into schizo effective induced paranoia. He's also a pepper like me. Yes, crazy fine line to toe.

Anyways he's been getting more uppity about things worrying more about getting everything he nids for a SHTF. I was talking to him and I told him he can calm down. He's strapped, water capped, and food store mapped. Basics covered anything from this point on is IMHO excessive. 1/3

I feel like the love for is based solely on their ahistorical world view. To them, "the classics" are works that are there simply to be art with absolutely no political meaning. But lots of classics are deeply political if only a fascist valued real, honest history and not their fantastical myths.

Anyone have any good tricks to fix flex? I've tried some pretty Jank fixes but the flex in the 3 is really bad

Currently thinking about printing a center brace for both inside and underneath the thing to really stabilize it.

@aral tech has, for a very long time, ignored where the money comes from because it was always good money and easier to stomach than others.

Fossil fuels got away with it too until the consequences became far too dire to ignore and I worry we'll be in an equally sunk ship by the time we stop letting data thieves get away with it!

I went through the standard nu atheist phase where I aggressively hated on Christianity from a facts and logic standpoint.

Then I mellowed out for high school and the start of college on the grounds of "not all christians"

But then learning that all of American history is "the white rich christians are acting up again" coupled with some other features of 2016 American events, really put me into this mood.

@SrRochardBunson depends on how far you intend to go to "get home" or where you're "going"

I'm a fan of a tarp sleeping system like a small silpoly tarp or maybe some large yard waste bags if you want multi purpose. But my go bag is built for hiding in the woods for days since that's a completely possible route I might need to take to get somewhere.

But otherwise just some shelf stable food that doesn't need cooking and a boil pot if it's just for disaster evacuation.

This was the kit my current bag is based on
Key features:
-8"x8" DCF tarp
-50 degree sleeping bag (for my climate and comfort level it's more than enough
-2 water filters 3 water bladders (compatible with smart water and 2liter bottles)

This all fit in a 24 liter bag with room to spare. With a weeks worth of food and a days in water it weighed sub 20 lbs

Tossing in ID documents and swapping the bag out with a more durable canvas or silnylon bag is a good idea.

@BreakingImpossible @SrRochardBunson I used to have that list but it was a lot of fat and sugar. Peanut butter, tortillas, tuna in oil, knorr dinners, olive oil container, m&Ms (peanut). It was designed for a 3000kCal a day diet for 4-5 days but it could be stretched to a week or 10 days if I needed to survive.

Not a well balanced diet and if I really wanted to just make it, jumbo jar of peanut butter and two packages of flour tortillas would do.

My fiance doesn't want a camera system. I said I could it and we'd have full control but my fiance just doesn't like cameras. That's okay. I'm fine with that

But my homie was wanting one with Ring or Nest and I told him I could totally help him self host that and he's down.

So I'm glad I get to do this project anyways even if it's not for my benefit

@mcc I was a senior in highschool when the chromebook started to become the norm. Before that we used MacBooks that the school system had used for 9 years.

I voiced my objections to Chromebooks then as being a waste as they were not built to be used like the MacBooks were and were not going to last.

"Oh don't worry Nags. A lot of smart people decided to make this change."

9 years ago I made my observation and they're on their 4th set of Chromebooks. "Smart people"

Just saw someone advocating progressive movements organize on the Fediverse.

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL ABOUT SAYING STUFF LIKE THIS.

-Most fediverse tie-ins are not architected to protect you. For instance, Mastodon Direct Messages are not encrypted and admins can access them.

-Most instances are hosted by ordinary people who don't have the time, knowledge, or resources to fight subpoenas in either criminal or civil actions.

Meet here. Support each other. Cheer each other on. Show solidarity, and elevate and amplify each other.

Organize in much more restricted environments, like end-to-end encrypted messengers like Signal.

In case you missed it, all links on Mastodon count as 23 characters towards your limit, no matter how many characters the link really is.

So, you don't need to use link shorteners on Mastodon as they won't actually affect the link's length.

Mastodon does this because it's better for everyone's privacy to avoid link shortener services, it means people can see what they're clicking on, and the link won't stop working if the shortener service shuts down.
