    One of the more limiting things about Signal is you have to give out your mobile number to everyone. Even if it is a burner, I still don't want to advertise to the world that it's mine.

    Was happy to read today that Signal is now beta testing a new username feature.

    For me it is on the same level as "you can only have 1 active device". Noth needs fixing. Luckily the phone number issue can easily be resolved.

    At the end of the day, COVID-19 made people realize:

    • They could work from home and that most offices are shitty places.

    • Their job was really shitty.

    • Governments could finance pretty much anything they wanted.

    • Global warming could be stopped.

    • The really important jobs were the ones that are the worst paid (nurses, for instance).

    • Most governments are run by idiots, who are in the pocket of the wealthiest.

    I recently knocked up a VERY simple tool that generates a UUID and puts it in your clipboard. The way I use it is to set a global keyboard (Win+U) then I can paste it. https://github.com/asgrim/uuid2clip

    There is no such thing as AI yet, only an algorithm which may or may not parse information faster and to a certain amount reproduce it correctly than the generation of algorithms before it.

    Und bei Microsoft bezahlt man dann zwei Personen Vollzeit an Lizenzen und Gebühren. Zumindest ab ca. 50 Benutzer ist selber machen wieder günstiger.

    Argh, a little frustrating that you can't easily run Guix builds inside of Docker containers on Codeberg CI.

    Yes, one can generate pre-baked Docker images locally and push them to the registry of their choice, though I want this thing to be fully automated to keep the image up to date.

    Seems like GitHub Actions or SourceHut Builds would be an option for automating the creation of a container from Guix, but it feels weird to use another CI platform for that.
