It's not like you'll get tech support with that, they just watch every single thing you do and mail you ink sometimes. (Though not often, because only 20 pages a month on a device that's rated 1000/no and recommends 100-400 ppm "for optimum device performance".)

@troublewithwords the Chicago public libraries let you print something like 10 pages free a month, maybe more, I know a homeless lady who was using it to print resumes.

@themaskerscomic in the summer of 2021 some young guy was trying to date me & I ended up blocking him when he lied to me about being vaccinated. But before I did he went off about how he thinks he already had Covid, and he worked the whole time so it wasn’t that bad. Which means he also sent his daughter to school when she was probably infected by him. Absolutely disgusting individual. And not very bright. Bragging about how he went to work and infected his whole entire workplace wasn’t going to convince me it was safe to hook up with him. I’m not quite sure what he was thinking but I did appreciate the honesty when I finally got it.

@themaskerscomic and it’s been really confusing for me to watch people mansplain my own chronic illness to me & to try to convince me it’s fine if I get covid, then they act totally confused when I don’t hang out with them because I don’t trust them not to get me sick. Especially when they tell me they are careful but I know for a fact they never wear a mask anywhere ever.

And when I asked them to tell me what they do that they think is careful because I’m not seeing it they’ve got nothing.

And why would I trust someone to protect my health when they just spent months trying to convince me that it’s fine if I get Covid? Of course they’re going to give me Covid just to prove that they are right, and they are not right. And I can’t even convince myself that I’m being paranoid because I’ve seen people tell story after story of their in-laws infecting them because their in-laws thought that their Covid precautions were silly nonsense. And to prove it they come over with Covid. They infect people on purpose to try to prove that avoiding infections doesn’t work. Why would anyone take health advice from anyone like that?

But it’s weird that people can’t wrap their head around that. Is it the brain damage?

Using the women's bathroom: a primer for trans femme people.

I know this is a really stressful topic for some folk, so I'll try to be gentle here.

First things first. Should you be using the women's? Basically, here's my guide: if you like your presentation enough that you're going out in public, you're probably too femme for the men's.

So. You decide to use the women's. What next? Confidence. Confidence is crucial, and here's the good part: can be faked. This is a true "fake it til you make it" situation. Stroll in like you own the place, select your stall, do your business.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT: the size of your shoes, the sound of your urination, the chance someone will look into those stupid gaps in North American stall doors, or anything else. No one cares but you.

When you're done in the stall, rearrange yourself clothing wise and get back out there. Stride again, stride confidently to the washbasins and do your work. Fix your makeup if you want, check your hair. If anyone else looks at you, smile and use the mirror to make eye contact.

Trust me on this one. I know it feels like a creeper thing to do, and if you were masc-presenting, it would be. But a smile and eye contact says "I belong here, how ya doing?" like nothing else.

WOMEN DO THIS. They make eye contact with one another, small talk, compliment one another, and so on. Don't choke up when it happens. Your voice is fine. Say thanks, and compliment something of hers.

If she makes you as trans, she may ask you something about it. Don't be alarmed. It's a normal thing to talk to other women in the bathroom, and if she were going to be upset, she'd be there already. Just answer as best you can, maybe with a bit of self-deprecating humour.

Then finish up your business before the sinks, smile again and say "have a good day" or something like it, and walk confidently out of there because you just rocked it.

That's how you do it. It gets easier each time.

It was epic, that kid had no fear, the mom tried to silence them and they weren’t having it. (Not sure if “they” is the right pronoun I just don’t remember the gender of the teenager at all.)

I've been seeing discussions lately around the YouTube fascism algorithm [not directed at me] implying that if you get those suggestions it's because that's material you have sought out.
Not true.

It's been studied and repeatedly shown--like a vehicle w/poor alignment--suggestions will drift to the right pretty quickly.
To "never" get them, you must
a) be outside targeted demographics AND
b) not look at DIY, repair, survivalism, building, cooking, sewing, politics, animal husbandry, automotive

@sidereal oh God, my ex-husband’s parents. I hated eating around them, hated it. And I wasn’t actually even being picky, I just don’t eat the fat that circles the steak. You would think they would like that, I would give it to them whenever they would hassle me about it and they would chew on it like it was delightful 🤢

And why do people keep getting abused by the medical system over there for this disease that has been around for a long time. I thought the US had the worst medical system but at least if a doctor tried to tell me MECFS wasn’t real and they tried to hurt me I could report them to the board of medicine & they would be forced to take a continuing education class or something

Once upon a time a new species evolved that thought itself very intelligent.

But this new smarty pants species had a terrible blind spot. It couldn't figure out how to stop shitting in its own nest.

It wasn't a problem at first, because when the new species filled it's current nest with shit, it would just abandon the shitscape and start someplace new.

But soon enough, the new species covered the globe and had nowhere else to create new shitnests. The species wound up drowning in its own shit and went extinct.

There was much rejoicing from all the other species that had figured out how not to shit in their own nest.

They never thought the new species was very intelligent to begin with.

Grr. Some fucker just tried to shame me for expecting medical professionals to wear high-quality masks when doing procedures on me which necessitate me not wearing a mask. It’s to protect both them and me, you rectal canoe! He tried to say there was no scientific evidence masks helped. Blocked that guy. Blargh. I got COVID at the dentist office, FFS. I can’t believe we’re going back to the days when people rolled their eyes at germ theory.

If you’re anywhere near eastern Lit Dental and Aesthetics is safe.

If you go, when you make your appointment tell them you are seeing them because you do not want Covid, they will double mask with an N 95 while you are there.

@soc_i_ety @JPK_elmediat @econads @lednaBM @Crispius my dad was a reverend, but he studied all different religions. When I went to clean out his house I tried to grab one book from every genre. I haven’t gotten into reading them yet though, the trauma of the past few years is still making my attention span kind of glitchy. But I would love to find one that doesn’t try to tell women that we were put on this earth to serve men. I don’t feel the need for religion, I actually joined The Satanic Temple because these Christian nationalists won’t respect my 1st amendment right to be free from religion, so I figured I should get one, but it would make me feel better to know that they aren’t all trying to make women bang maids for men.

He goes out into the world and he claims he hasn’t seen one Trump 2024 sign? Does he recognize when the garbage is fall and it needs to go out or does he wait for someone to tell him it’s time? Why doesn’t he vote?

I suspect he’s a Trumper and he knows that if he admits that he won’t get laid. Any man who is this checked out of politics is either super privileged, or he doesn’t care about anything other than himself, or he’s a Trumper who knows he won’t get dates if he admits it.

@jeffowski We should have a problem with the fact that the parole board gives people extra points for finding God. I’m not sure if it’s written down in any policy manual or if it’s just what they do, but it’s wrong.
