@scalzi Which is stimulus spending. We've spent .5% of the DOJ budget to help destroy half of Russia's military and we're creating jobs to do it.

Sounds like a win/win.

Biden, who was in NYC for a campaign event, is taking an unusual route to Camp David this weekend according to the official schedule: Marine One helicopter from Manhattan to JFK, Air Force One (747) to Andrews, where he change planes to a different (probably 757) Air Force One to Hagerstown.

Usually they take Marine One from DC directly to Camp David. Unclear why they couldn't fly a smaller AF1 directly from JFK to Hagerstown. (I think Marine One lacks range to get from NYC to Camp David)

mikej,
@mikej@mastodon.online avatar

@mattblaze I think it (the helo) has the range, but it's slower and louder and generally more uncomfortable.

Are they still using Ospreys for DC->DE flights, or did somebody decide they were too dangerous? they certainly have the range.

What I don't understand is why they didn't just preposition the 757 at JFK.

@arstechnica BMW makes more efficient EV by diverting the power from the turn signals, which their drivers won't use anyway.

It's a clear explainer of , and the . It makes the case for public media to join the network. It mentions running a server versus joining an established one.

And above all, it's a public broadcaster walking the walking instead of just griping about X and then going back to X.

As someone who played SxSW multiple times and mostly enjoyed it, I would like to say bands should drop out of SxSW because it is in Texas and Greg Abbott is the governor and his party literally voted to greenlight alliances with Texas neo-Nazis because they, his party, are fucking neo-Nazis.

@GrimmReality I'd say they shouldn't play SxSW because it's not really cool anymore AND it's in Texas. I saw a picture earlier today from the EU's delegation to SxSW. When governments go to music festivals, they aren't cool, not matter what government it is.

SxSW is for losers.

@glennf @Lyle I think you're still allowed to cast it as something shameful. You can think and say whatever you want about marriage. What you can't do it is deny that it is an actual lawful marriage.

Of course people can then call you a bigot in return. But nobody is stopping anybody from saying what they want about marriage equality.

I reached into the back seat last night and sliced my thumb. Felt something jagged and couldn't figure out what it was. So, I reached back again at a different angle (so, at least my dumb ass was trying to be scientific about it). @mattferrell In some of the intro video, you showed tower mounted vertical installations. Of course they weren't bifacial, so they understandably didn't really come up again. Make that language Visual Basic (or something that works like that: draw the window and hook up code, no writing code to draw UI unless/until you want to do more.)

    Nothing wrong with cli centered languages, but people like guis and it shouldn't be hard.)

    Peter Benchley's bestselling novel, "Jaws," came out 50 years ago; the Steven Spielberg movie followed just a year later. Both were phenomenally successful and spawned the idea that sharks were malevolent creatures that preyed on unsuspecting swimmers. According to Gavin Naylor, Director of Florida Program for Shark Research at the University of Florida, the book and film also inspired a generation of scientists. Here's his story for @TheConversationUS.
