Disappointed, but not surprised, by the utter lack of interest in over at .

XF 2.2 was released in Sep 2020. XF 2.3 will drop sometime this year, however, IMHO, none of the new features were worth waiting 3+ years (a lifetime ago) for.

In the meantime, like are testing a plugin, 2.0 will support , and plans to join the too. I'm sure there are more.

I really want to migrate to another platform.

Last month I deleted all social media apps from my phone, except for , to help reclaim my time, redirect my focus, and improve my mental health.

Highly recommended.

Why ?

Some reasons:

  • I like what @Gargron + team are doing

  • Not owned by megacorps, billionaires, megalomaniacs, and the like

  • No ads, surveillance, or monetization of my data

  • More control over my account, social graph, feeds, and whatnot

  • Authentic engagement vs. performative, paid, and rage farming

  • Higher quality discussions + connections

  • I'm pro- and believe that the is the future of the social web + so much more

@evacide Love char siu bao. Baked or steamed. My first one was in Boston’s Chinatown in the 80s. Hooked since.

Even found a place here in Helsinki to get my fix. Never made them though.

One thing Tinder does not tell you about Tinder Select (the new 499/mo USD plan) is that encountering a Select profile is, uh, quite attention getting:

  • your phone shakes and vibrates;
  • a Select icon animation on your profile flashes and flies around for a brief second.

I’m guessing the special effects can be switched off, but still…

It's my understanding that these newly federated accounts are all automated.

Shouldn't they be tagged as such at the profile level?

Tidal is majority-owned by Block (formerly Square), which is owned by Jack Dorsey (formerly Twitter) and Jim McKelvey.

A couple of billionaires that just cut more than 10% of their staff too.

I signed up for a invite shortly after it launched, and tried several times since, but nada. Not sure I’d even bother at this point.

blocked me for being in Europe, but my brief usage before that was a very meh experience. I also despise all things .

Mastodon definitely needs more love though, as seen by the current poll results.
