So, I'd considered backing a new Kickstarter Farming Sim called TALES OF SEIKYU until I read that they are locking the option to play as a female protag behind a stretch goal.
And not even the FIRST stretch goal. It's locked behind the 200k goal (game is 40k).
They don't do social media really, but I thought you'd appreciate that I read that to them, and they checked it out themselves and then said almost word for word what you said, and as annoyed.
(edited to clarify that SM= social media in this sentence 🤣 )
@luigirenna I'd be very surprised, unless SH2R is as big a hit as the Resident Evil remakes. And shit, even then they didn't bother with Code Veronica. I'd expect them to do at most 1 & 2 and hopefully a non-suck new one long before every looking at 4
Kicking the undead horse: As I have stated before #BG3 cannot be the industry standard due to the fact that Larian is in the position of being an Indie developer that is AA+ in size. I don't know of any other Indie developer that has 200+ employees in offices all over the world?
However, PLAYERS will not make this distinction, players WILL hold future games from any of the big developers to the standard of this game and there will be much implosions of forums and worse still.
@kwsapphire If a system has to be regulated to the point where it cannot work as intended to be useful it is not a good system. Capitalism IS greed, that's why I am putting a distinction between that and Trade.
Corporations especially, and the stock market, are inventions that moves the profit motive away from the customer, and actual customer service, to the stock holders and the board members. If your stocks go up every time you fire people, it is a system encouraging evil behavior.
If you can gerrymander a map so a minority of voters keeps your party in power, you're incentivized to do so. Which is exactly what's happened and continues to happen in the US.
Capitalism isn't greed, it's the current scapegoat. You have yet to acknowledge that (A) your own government is making the decision to privatize these services. They wouldn't do it to JUST make companies richer, they themselves must be benefitting, no? So.. there's greed in your government and it's causing you harm? and (B) there are some services truly necessary to our way of life that private enterprise has proven to do much more efficiently than the government would have. (e.g. manufacturing refrigerators.)
I can't reconcile how you absolve your gov of the greed on clear display & blame solely private enterprise while also ignoring the clear good private ent has done.
But I'm talking in circles now so it's time to bow out. I love chatting with you but this isn't going anywhere. ;)
😳 my wife surprised me with an early, very unexpected, and super extravagant, Xmas present... (For various reasons it makes sense that it's this early). I'm super happy with it ☺️. although, not sure why she decided to give it to me right on the middle of a working from home day😂. Any recommendations what I should be playing? My gaming pc has been giving up for the past few years, so I'm very out of date. #Gaming
@mforester you know, thinking about it, I might just setup a Windows 98 virtual machine on the deck and run classic games fun there.
At this point I'm like 80% sure that I'm just going to abandon my windows desktop PC entirely and use the deck. I've already moved to Linux on my old Chromebook and haven't regretted it for a moment.
@Hundstrasse also a good idea. I've switched to Linux about two years ago and haven't regretted it since. But I'm a tech-savvy tinkerer and ready to get my hands dirty if something doesn't work. I think Nocturne was the only retrogames project I abandonned without getting it working on Linux.
Otherwise, especially for modern games, Linux is getting better and better every day. Valve gave us an amazing gift with Proton and I'm amazed at how well it "just works".
Something streamer culture needs to embrace more is the classic radio tradition of the 'relief presenter' to enable holidays and breaks.
And Twitch in particular needs to have better tools to enable it safely and easily.
When Craig Charles goes on holiday, his daily afternoon show on BBC Radio 6 doesn't go off air for two weeks, leaving silence in its place. That would be disastrous for the radio station.
Instead, a relief presenter comes in, or a relief show is scheduled. /1 #gaming
It's not my goal here to come up with a full solution to those problems. But I've seen a few big streamers openly talking about the worry that comes with taking an extending break lately. And those worries are valid.
But the problem ISN'T insurmountable.
It's just one of those areas where both streamers and platforms, need to look to traditional broadcasting. Streamers then need to innovate, and create the culture and pressure, for change. Which the platforms will then have to respond to. /END
The purple Game Boy Color was my first ever game system, followed by the purple #GBA and then the blue SP. The original DMG needs some repairs and replacement parts, it was a garage sale pickup years ago.
I use the #SteamDeck a lot nowadays, but I still try to make time for the #retro#handhelds. The mini #emulation handhelds can be a nice change of pace as well! Do you still like old school handhelds? Let me know!
@fmn LOL I would love to get an rg35xx or something equivalent soon, outside of the Steam Deck I haven't been able to purchase a new handheld in several years. Glad you like!
Started a new #CrusaderKings3 game yesterday, and been playing it most of today (took a day off of work 😅).
My first character, King Arnbjorn of Iceland, is on his last legs. He started off a nobody at the age of 16, and now as at the ripe age of 76, he rules a Kingdom that consists of Iceland, Ireland, Scotland, the Northern Isles, and a little tiny section of Norway.
@danielholt Yeah I do feel like it's the type of game that if I was to put down for a while, then I'd have to re-learn the mechanics.
Thing is with this game is I don't think there is any right way to go about playing it. There are probably ideal ways of playing certain situations, but somethings are just out of your control and you have to deal with the consequences.
Makes it interesting I think. Wouldn't be as interesting if I could take over all the land very easily.
@OutofPrintArchive This review is probably the reason I bought this game, though ironically the thing I remember most about it, the online multiplayer, was the one thing they weren't able to touch on. I remember it being pretty seamless to load up a match against a rando and just play a good ol' match of Worms, fun times!
@penguingeek I played it a bit when it was brand new and forgot about it afterwards. I have only just recently discovered that it is still in active development, which I frankly find bloody amazing after 20 years.
@Player1MGA Hi, sorry for the delay in replying! I’m enjoying it so far - performance is about what I expected (which is, good enough) and battery life is a bit better than expected. It’s early days, but the most ‘AAA’ games I’ve played are FH4, Death Stranding & FIFA, and to be fair they play great! Biggest issue is internal storage - I got the 64GB and it has filled up quickly, with shader cache & compatdata files. Will probably upgrade to bigger SSD at some point!
@iieksi thank you! Glad you are enjoying it too. It’s nice not getting frustrated with the game 🤣 many games tend to do that. With busy schedules and daily life who needs the added stress. Haha
So, since JoinMastodon.org has decided to change the way servers are listed on their website — showing preference for large servers who do not have a manual review process to join —>

@Sonikku@cwagdev personally I got my first* console in 2017, believe it or not, and I have been gaming since Amiga 500. It was mindblowing (in a very negative way) to try DOOM on XboxOne controller for the first time. 🤯 I did adjust since then, I have no issues now. But I still don’t use controllers in fps games because there is no need.
*I did have a Super Mario Brothers game on a device called Micro Genius as a kid, though. Bit that’s irrelevant for this topic.
@cwagdev@darth It’s all the same to me. Dont do much online gaming aymore but things like Doom Eternal i did on PS5 just fine on controller, hell, ive done Doom / Doom 2 / Quake /Quake 2 console ports all on harder difficulties with controller in the last year
