I'm thinking about Mastodon in a wide view, in the world of social media, this feels a little outsider, while at the same time it also feels like it might be the future. So, let's talk about it!
What do you get out of Mastodon?
Why are you here?
How has it compared with your other social media experiences?
What do you see for the future of Mastodon?
What do you want to see?
And basically anything else about it you want to say about Mastodon.
LET'S TALK!
@RickiTarr
I dropped all social media a year before I heard about Mastodon. I never used twitter before, but when I found out what Mastodon was doing, I fired up an instance on my server and have enjoyed it every day since!
A call from my sister just after midnight that she’d taken mum to the hospital.
Been holding bedside vigil while sister goes home and gets some sleep. Doctors running tests and whatnot. Morphine for the pain. Machines that go “bing”.
It’s about 4:30am and mum’s snoring with a plethora of tubes and wires.
Eyes are heavy. Chair is uncomfortable. The nurses showed me where I could make a cup of coffee for myself.
My Dad, the last of his generation in my family, passed away the end of February. We are dealing with the grief and details.
Best advice I got, from a friend I've had since 3rd grade, is you should accept all offers of help. It both gave friends a way to honor Dad, and to ease our load as we struggle with the loss.
@RickiTarr There's comic relief throughout so it's a very easy watch in my opinion. THRONE OF BLOOD -- his version of Macbeth -- is more consistently intense. I'd save that one for when you've got the emotional energy haha.
I'm just not into food before lunch. However, if we are taking breakfast for dinner I need thin sliced scrapple cooked completely crunchy, 2 over easy eggs, and rye toast.
@RickiTarr favorite: Chicken fried steak, with hash browns/home fries and small “curd” scrambled eggs with cheese with a side of white gravy.
Alt: biscuits and gravy.
Usually?
Slice of Sausage/bacon with over easy fried egg and frozen hash brown patty.

My best friend once told me that when you're trying to figure out whether or not to say something, you should ask if it's any TWO of True, Helpful, and Kind.
What he's done is prep his followers to believe, at such time as Fox gets arnd to reporting he lost (they haven't, yet), he lost for reasons he "predicted" he wd lose: bc judge & the Black Woman Prosecutor ganged up on him
If last wk's judgmt & this trial were (or is--they still cd be) reported w 1/2 the attention reporters pay to Hunter dick pix then it MIGHT lead some ppl to realize Trump is a fraud, always has been
But thus far Trump has utterly dictated storyline.
As the day drew to a close, Trump seemed to take great issue with testimony from David Bender, an accountant at Mazars who spent years preparing Trump's personal tax returns.
At times, he appears to be very upset, with his face turning beet red. At one point, Trump turned to Cliff Robert, the attorney for his adult sons, and whisper-yelled at him, while pointing and waving his finger.
Well, I just placed orders for boards and parts to build a new Lisa 2/5 around my existing Lisa CPU card, the only part of a Lisa I’ve ever owned.
I would never have thought this was possible if it weren’t for the work of @DosFox who recently built the first new Lisa since 1986! Thanks for the inspiration!
I’ll continue this thread as parts roll in. I may ask (beg) if folks have some parts in your bins! 😀
Anyone have experience with the RGB2HDMI project (based on a RaspPi)? I’m trying to figure out how to use it with the #AppleLisaClone to get a better video out. I see it’s supported but I can’t find a wiring diagram.
A messy desk with a pile of large green circuit boards to the right of a #AppleLisaClone. In the back is a makeshift display showing a MacWrite document. In the foreground is a letter sized printed page from MacWrite that says “Hello from the Lisa 2/5 running MacWorks Plus” along with many cowdogs at the top and bottom of the page (moof!).
@dancinyogi
I actually had a manual typewriter. You really had to push each key down hard (and as an 11-year old, that took strength). My Mom saw I was serious at writing and got me a Smith-Corona that had switchable cartridges, one for ink, one for white-out. I really needed that! The keys had a nice feel. My recollection is that I wrote my first novella and my first novel on the machine. After the novella, I was a touch typist. Never took a class.
Soon it was on to a terminal with a typewriter keyboard and a 56K Cat modem to use a time-share computer at university. That seems like so long ago that my memories should be in B&W and sepia-toned.
Like, cool. Free stuff.
Im actually hesitant to accept. Idk if I really like the idea of assimilating a computer even closer to my person than my phone already is.
It will probably just be a distraction. But idk. It might be useful.
Wondering what other #smartWatch owners might have to say.
I know @benjaminhollon has a smart watch. Made by frameworks maybe??? :thaenkin:
> green phosphor has the longest afterglow (remains on the screen for the longest time)
> green phosphor was the first available
> The human eye responds to the green color the best, so it looks brightest
🚨 FRIDAY QUIZ TIME 🚨
I have just provisioned a new dedicated #Linux server. It's been deployed running #Ubuntu 22.04.3. I SSH'ed in as root, given the provided credentials. 🤓
QUESTION: What's the very first command I typed after logging in? 🤔
