I'm revisiting early-mid 1980s albums by prog rock (& related) artists, when they decided to try new, more stripped down, approaches, many of which provoked vilification & even decades-long grudges among older fans who accused their favourite bands of selling out (see also: Queen's Hot Space album).
As I work today I'm listening to the soundtrack from the 1982 Conan the Barbarian film that was composed by Basil Poledouris. Things are feeling fairly barbaric at the moment here in the Arizona desert
Grab your lightsabers! Find some spice to smuggle! Maybe smooch your sibling!
That's right: In honor of May the Fourth, we have a very special Star Wars edition of Dollar Bin Discoveries!
37 years ago today (April 19) in 1987, the first Simpsons short "Good Night" aired on The Tracey Ullman show. I wasn't watching (I was 7), but I was watching when the Simpsons aired as its own series a couple years later.
The A-Team from the 1980s is my favorite TV show, and they had these big hardcover 'Annual' books they'd put out for it. I just discovered the one from 1984 is at the Internet Archive, and if you log in, you can 'borrow' it for an hour (and every hour it resets) and flip through all the scanned pages. It's totally wild.
#Introduction: Hello, I am #new here! I was on #Diaspora for quite a few years but it was a very small community. Mastodon seems larger and more dynamic.
I'm mainly here to chat about #RPG games. I have been playing #DnD since the #1980s, starting with Moldvay #Basic and Keep on the Borderlands. These days I am mostly playing #DCC, but also enjoy Call of #Cthulhu, Traveller and #OSR games.
Besides #RPGs, I like British comics, especially #2000AD and its spin-offs. And #cycling.
