A rising tide raises all boats - if you're going to punish #redhat, make sure you punish all #Linux companies if you can't easily build their entire code tree yourself
Even though I absolutely love #Linux, sometimes I get tired of encountering the same issues over and over again, and of the "it's 99% there" situation.
Let me know if you agree with these issues or not, and if you have others that personally bother you.
(Also, 2nd video out of 4 that isn't edited by me, previous feedback has been incorporated partially, let me know what you thought!)
Why do we still live in a world where I can't independently configure my laptop display and external monitor's scaling (100% and 150% respectively) in #Linux? Or is this just an Ubuntu/Kubuntu problem?
Under X11 both displays sync their scaling settings (awful experience when you have a 4K panel). And with Wayland both displays end up blurry, even after a reboot.
I'm using the HP Dev One.
Are there easy workarounds or should I finally make the permanent switch to #fedora?
A lot of people often refer to #Linux based operating systems as a #Windows or a #macOS alternative, but Linux can also do a lot of things that its competitors simply can’t.
So let’s look at the things only Linux can do, and that Windows and macOS wished they could:
I took a look at the major web browsers, and how they handle user privacy, from blocking tracking scripts, cookies and pixels, blocking ads, to the data they collect, and how they resist fingerprinting.
Chciałbym aby kiedyś trafiło do repozytoriów Arch, Ubuntu, Fedory i innych dystrybucji i pomogło poprawić bezpieczeństwo użytkowników desktopowego GNU/Linuxa. Niestety nie mam zbyt dużego doświadczenia w pracy nad średnimi i dużymi projektami, dlatego proszę was o pomoc.
A conversation that keeps popping up in my mind since FOSDEM centers around open source projects and “AI,” and I still don’t know what I think. So let me share some thoughts here on the famously nuance-friendly Internet. 😜
During a chat w/folks from several open source organizations, someone suggested GNOME could attract funding by “sprinkling some AI on it.” Several folks laughed at the topical joke, but then realized it was in earnest. 🧵
Wow. Red Hat cutting back RHEL source availability: CentOS Stream will now be the sole repository for public RHEL-related source code releases. For Red Hat customers and partners, source code will remain available via the Red Hat Customer Portal. https://www.redhat.com/en/blog/furthering-evolution-centos-stream What do you think? #linux#opensource
Look what came in the mail? My @purism Librem 5, but I am still waiting on my SIM card For the Librem cell service for some testing between that and @Efani but this will be an interesting review of the battle of the privacy phone ecosystems I have made.

I use #Linux as the main OS on my computers, but also use Windows 10 on one.
For the sole reason to download the #ebooks I buy.
I play the occasional Windows-only game as well, but those I can do without.
I can't do without ebooks.
I really, really wish there was an open standard for getting any ebook, with or without #drm, onto any device without having to rely on a single piece of software from one company. #EU, do something! #DailyRant#PetPeeve#ADE#AdobeDigitalEditions
Who should be software packaging is a tough problem, I can see the value in #linux distros pushing for better changes downstream, encouraging upstream to change (double click in #KDE) but then I see cases like KeepassXC where the Debian package is now by default broken, actively damaging the reputation of upstream but then I remember #XZ where upstream was left unchecked and hid bad code in plain sight and I go back around in a circle.
