Who do I have to talk to to stop this from shipping? If users have no way to overwrite the user-hostile behavior, this feature should not ship. Users should always be able to show all content on the page.
Even the person proposing exclusive accordion through details/summary did not come up with one single user need, just with developer needs. No user needs exclusive accordions. They need a way to get rid of exclusive accordions, and giving developers an easy native way to implement them can be a way to do it, if the browsers ship with settings to overwrite the behavior. But they currently don’t.
Remember #Patreon set up new on-by-default sharing of your account information with every other Patreon user (and maybe the world)? Remember people posting how to turn it off, because they were using confusing language/dark patterns to try to #trick you into oversharing?
I got the "welcome to the new Patreon" today, and ... they've turned the "Community Profile" setting back on after I deliberately turned it off.
I just had two posts #censored from mastodon.social. I will never know the real reason, but both were just the longest possible sequence of tags, to reach and be visible to a large audience. I suspect what ticked the hammer off were tags referring to "prohibited" substances. namely #thc#weed#marijuana#LSD#acid#tryptamine#hallucinogenic. the posts were deleted without informing me even though I was also using tags such as "moderation" and "noalcohol" in the same post. why is it forbidden to talk positively about these blissful compounds that nature gifts us, while hyperconsumption of #alcohol, #nicotine and #coffee is normalized and even encouraged, and the elite is allowed to indulge unquestioned, including #public#officials?
@aardrian Accessibility would be in the 21th century is AI autofill alternate texts for images. That would be a handy 👌 #user#experience though. No unnecessary/empty🫙human input triggered but precise AI algorithm that just works. Typical AI task would it be?
There seems to be a prevalent idea in tech that software has to be difficult to use, because if it’s too easy, it’ll attract too many “low quality” users who will use it to create low quality content, thereby dragging down the software’s reputation.
I just think this is some smug elitist digital tragedy of the commons bullshit.
Which is why I do prefer offering the easy-to-use yet good solutions, like #UbuntuLTS...
After all, I think it's dellusional to expect the average #User to learn how to use #OpenBSD or even embedded #Linux when that's unnecessary for them...
PSA: The Matrix URI scheme has been supported by all mainstream web engines, namely Blink, Gecko and WebKit, so instead of throwing around clownflared URLs like https://matrix.to/#/#room:server.example and https://matrix.to/#/#user:server.example, use matrix:r/room:server.example and matrix:u/user:server.example.
#user#error
Google is trying to put the web in a cage in the same way they put your devices in a cage (Android, ChromeOS).
There’s one really easy, simple and efficient way to fight them: uninstall Chrome/Chromium, use #firefox
Do it. Now.
– But I prefer Chrome because of…
If you are not ready to sacrifice a little comfort (so little, Firefox is great) to save the web, then you don’t deserve a free web anyway. You are part of those killing it.
The #proposal is pure, unmitigated #evil. The "#explainer" barely even tries to make it sound like it's supposed to help the #web#user, which of course it isn't.
I would like to suggest that developers consider as much flexibility when trying to interact with links/handles from off-instance and off-kbin (e.g. lemmy) as possible. I would like for it to work on lemmy in a similar fashion....
#Medium -ékkal nem vagyok megelégedve. Öntöm bele a contentet (40+ entry) aztán arra nem képesek, hogy bármelyik másik #user bejegyzését elolvashassam... Grrr. 😡

This is the template trigger code I use in my automation. Automations triggers and ramps up lighting 5min before phone alarm goes off.
The template checks the current time/date at the start of ever minute (the bracketed bit formats the current timestamp) then checks to see if current time matches my next alarm time formula and triggers automation if it does match.
The next alarm formula gets the (time to) next alarm in milliseconds, devides that by a thousand to make it seconds then, subtracts 300 (= 5 minutes) then prints that formula to a time stamp formatted the same as the current time stamp (for it to compare against)
This is for an Android phone and using the companion app sensor for ‘next alarm’. #USER# is to be replaced with users own name/entity. Not sore how much of this translates to an Amazon thing but, hopefully give you a bit of an idea of how to perform it once you find the right entity?
{{now().strftime(‘%H:%M %Z %a %d %h %Y’) == (((state_attr(‘sensor.#USER#_phone_next_alarm’, ‘Time in Milliseconds’) | int / 1000 | int - 300 )) | timestamp_custom(‘%H:%M %Z %a %d %h %Y’))}}
Want to do something simple to help people start off right with #Python?
Make pull requests for docs to change pip install whatever
to python3 -m pip install whatever
Ich denke darüber nach, zu #Calckey zu wechseln, angeblich kann man da die Follower und Followed-exporte aus Mastodon importieren ... Vom UI und von den Möglichkeiten her gefällt mir Calckey um Längen besser als #Mastodon
make URLs for communities, users etc as flexible as possible

what happened to the fediverse in June 2023? why did everything go down?
Trigger automation 15 minutes before Alexa alarm.
